KSU Held Scoreless Against the Jaguars

KENNESAW, Ga. – The Kennesaw State women's tennis team suffered a 7-0 setback to South Alabama on Saturday (Feb. 28) at Fair Oaks Tennis Center in Marietta, Ga.

Kennesaw State recorded a win at No. 1 doubles, with Virginie Stein and Alexandra Mercado taking a 5-2 victory over Laura Valkova and Emily Newton.

The Jaguars clinched the doubles point, however, with wins at the No. 2 and No. 3 positions.

Singles play proved to be a struggle for the Owls as well.

Freshman Alexandra Mercado battled Mary Angela Martin in a tiebreaker match at No. 3 singles.

Mercado fell 6-3, 2-6, 10-8 in the match and the Owls were ultimately swept in the contest against the Jaguars.

The Owls will move to 0-6 on the season and the women will be back in action on Friday (Mar. 6) at 1 p.m. ET to take on Arkansas State at Kennworth Park in Acworth, Ga.
