DELAND, Fla. –
The Kennesaw State men's basketball team completed the sweep of the Stetson Hatters on Saturday, February 21 by a score of 61-56.

"I'm very proud of the guys for showing resiliency through two toughly contested road games through adversity," head coach Jimmy Lallathin said. "They brought the energy, and getting double-digit wins is a great accomplishment. We still have two regular season games left and then the tournament, so the season is really only just getting started. This was a great team win and I'm looking forward to Wednesday."

Damien Wilson finished with 21 points and six rebounds to lead the Owls. This is the fourth 20-point game he has had this season.

Nigel Pruitt led KSU in rebounding for the third straight game having eight.

The Hatters got to within two points at 53-51, and Pruitt answered with a layup while getting fouled. He finished off the old fashioned three-point play to put the Owls back up five with 1:01 remaining.

With 17 seconds left and the Owls up four, Willy Kouassi stepped to the free throw line and sank two clutch free throws to ice the game for Kennesaw State.

With the win, the Owls are 10-19 overall and 4-8 in the Atlantic Sun. This is the first double-digit win season the Owls have had since the 2009-10 team had 13.

KSU got off to a very quick start jumping out to an 11-2 lead and rode that advantage for the entire first half.

After going up 34-20, Stetson mounted an 8-2 run to end the half trailing 36-38.

The Hatters extended their run in the second half and took a two-point lead at 40-38.

Then it was the Owls turn to step up and held Stetson scoreless over the next six minutes. The strong defense fuled an 11-0 run to put the Owls back up 49-40.

Stetson made one more run at Kennesaw State, but Pruitt's old-fashioned three-point play sealed the win.

The Owls have two games in the regular season remaining. Wednesday, February 25 against Northern Kentucky will be Senior Night with Delbert Love, Tanner Wozniak and Charlie Byers will be celebrated for their careers in an Owl uniform. The game will begin at 7 p.m. and be broadcasted on ESPN3.
