Florida Gulf Coast is second in the league sitting at 8-2. Down in Fort Myers, the Eagles topped the Owls in a tough five-set match.
PromotionsFriday against Stetson is Family Fun Friday and Camper Reunion Night. Saturday, the owls will celebrate Senior Night for the four seniors on the team this season.
Kennesaw State Team Notes• With a Kennesaw State win or an Upstate loss, the Owls will clinch a birth in the Atlantic Sun tournament at Lipscomb from November 19-21.
• This weekend, Kennesaw State will celebrate
Cierra Royster,
Megan McGuinness,
Michelle Witt and
Toure Hopkins on Senior Night against FGCU.
• Kennesaw State has been very successful in the KSU Convocation Center as their record in home matches this season is 7-3. That is the third most in KSU history. In 2013, the Owls won 10 matches at home in Schunzel's first season and won eight matches in 2009.
• Part of being so successful at home are the energetic crowds that have been at the matches. In the eight home matches, there has been an average crowd of 604 people. The high for the season and highest in Kennesaw State history came in the four-set win against Georgia Tech with 1,556.
• Freshman outside hitter
Sydni Shelton has been named A-Sun Freshman of the Week for the three times this season. The last time she was named Freshman of the Week, she 20 kills hitting .340 against USC Upstate. It is the third time she has earned the award this season and has also been named Player of the Week once.
• Shelton's hitting percentage is eighth best in the A-Sun at .301 for the season. This past weekend, she led the team in kills in both matches hitting .333 in each match. Shelton has had two matches this season where she has at least 17 kills with zero errors. The first one came against Jacksonville State when she had 17 kills and the second one came against USC Upstate when she had 23 kills.
• Kennesaw State currently leads the A-Sun in opponents hitting percentage at .168. A big part of leading the A-Sun in opponent hitting percentage is being second in the league in blocks averaging 2.14 blocks per set.
Katarina Morton has also played a big role in keeping the opponents at a low hitting percentage as she is averaging 4.08 digs per set.
•
Anaiah Boyer leads the Owls with 233 kills this season. She has had double-digit kills in every conference match except for one so far this season. Shelton is right behind Boyer with 224 kills on the season.
Next UpThe Kennesaw State Owls will close out their regular season by heading to Jacksonville to take on North Florida and Jacksonville.
