NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The best season in Kennesaw State volleyball program history came to an end in the Atlantic Sun Championship as Lipscomb beat the Owls 3-0.

It was the third match in three days for Kennesaw State.

In a tightly contested opening set, KSU grabbed a 14-10 lead, but Lipscomb came back to tie it up at 14. After trading points back and forth until it was tied at 17, LU went on a 4-0 forcing the Owls to use a timeout. The timeout couldn't slow the Bisons momentum down as they closed the set out 25-21.

Lipscomb didn't slow down from there. With the Owls trailing 8-7, Lipscomb won six of the next seven points to take a 13-8 lead. After that, the Owls struggled to get back in as LU built a 20-11 lead and went up 2-0 in the match.

After the break, Kennesaw State took a 7-3 lead, but Lipscomb responded to tie the score back up at 7. The Bisons took the lead for good in the set at 12-11 and went on to close out the match to claim the A-Sun Championship.

Coach Schunzel on the Championship Match
"Congratulations to Lipscomb for playing a fantastic match. That was far and away the best they served and passed it in our three matches this year. They will represent our conference well in the NCAA tournament. We were locked in and playing great until 17-17 in the first and they they got some momentum and never looked back. Unfortunately, outside of Anaiah Boyer, we really struggled to kill the ball tonight, and that limited what we could do offensively. I'm so incredibly proud of all the things we accomplished this year. We'll use this match and this entire experience as fuel for the fire. Our young team has come so far in such a short period of time this year, farther than any team I've been a part of. It gets me excited to think about how many more levels we're capable of reaching. Kennesaw State volleyball will be back, sooner than later, and will be holding a championship trophy."
