WBB: Perry Welcomes Two New Members To The Owl Family

Twin sisters, Jasmine and Jessica Herndon, will join the Owl women's basketball program.

KENNESAW, Ga. – The Kennesaw State women's basketball team has officially signed two student-athletes to National Letters of Intent as part of early signing day, announced head coach Nitra Perry on Thursday (Nov. 12) afternoon.
 
The Owls will welcome twin sisters Jessica and Jasmine Herndon into the program from Northside High School and Arnold Magnet Academy. Jessica Herndon (Columbus, Georgia) and Jasmine Herndon (Columbus, Georgia) both are labeled as forwards that will add depth to KSU's frontcourt.
 
"Both bring good size and athleticism to our team. They are both very versatile and these two will fit in very nicely with our style of play and the team that we have. The sisters are also great academically and I look forward to them joining the team next year," Perry said.

Jasmine Olivia Herndon | F/C

Northside High School | Arnold Magnet Academy
 
A 6-1 forward/center from Columbus, Georgia, Jasmine Herndon is a four-year letterwinner in basketball at Northside High School. She has played a total of 45 games thus far for Northside, averaging 11.0 points per game and 7.9 rebounds per game. In 2014-15, Jasmine nearly averaged a double-double, pouring in 12.3 points per game while pulling down 9.6 boards per game. Jasmine also proved to be a force in the paint defensively, averaging 1.1 blocks per game and 1.1 steals.
 
Personal: Full name is Jasmine Olivia Herndon…Birthplace is Columbus, Ga…Daughter of Leon and Trixty Herndon…Has one twin sister named Jessica, who will also be playing basketball under Coach Perry at Kennesaw State…Also has a brother named John…Is undecided about major at KSU.

"Jasmine is low block and very athletic. She moves around the basketball well and I'm excited to bring her on board and be a part of the Owl family," Perry said.

Northside High School | Arnold Magnet Academy
 
A 6-0 forward from Columbus, Georgia, Jessica Herndon was the DECA President at Northside High School. She was also a Presidential Scholars nomination. Jessica also helped Northside to two Region Championships. Herndon played 19 games in 2014-15 for Northside, averaging 9.1 points per game and 6.0 boards. She also averaged 1.3 blocks per game, proving to be a force in the paint and anchor on the defensive end. Jessica shot 40 percent from the field and totaled 173 points in her time at Northside.

"Jessica can step out and hit a jumper. She has a little bit more outside shooting than Jasmine but they both rebound the ball. They are twins and complement each other well on the court," Perry said.

KSU is set to open its 2015-16 season with an ESPN3 featured contest against crosstown rival Georgia State on Friday (Nov. 13) at 7 p.m. ET in the KSU Convocation Center.
