Game NotesSocial Media: Twitter | Facebook Game PreviewAfter winning three straight Atlantic Sun road matches for the first time since 2010, Kennesaw State returns home for four straight matches in the KSU Convocation Center.
On Friday night, the Owls host NJIT for Griffin's Game at 7 p.m. It will be the first time the Highlanders make the trip to Kennesaw State. The Owls beat NJIT 3-0 in New Jersey a couple of weeks ago.
On Halloween, KSU will play A-Sun leading Lipscomb. The Bisons are 7-1 in conference play with the one loss coming against Kennesaw State in a five set match in Nashville.
PromotionsThe Friday match against NJIT will be the inaugural Griffin's Game at Kennesaw State. T-Shirts will be on sale and any money that is raised at the game will be going to Brooks Perry and Becky Kent to help them and their families in their fight with cancer.
Kennesaw State Team Notes• The Owls are happy to return home to the KSU Convocation Center as their record in home matches this season is 6-2.
• Part of being so successful at home are the energetic crowds that have been at the matches. In the eight home matches, there has been an average crowd of 627 people. The high for the season and highest in Kennesaw State history came in the four-set win against Georgia Tech with 1,556.
• Freshman outside hitter
Sydni Shelton was named A-Sun Freshman of the Week for the third time after leading the team with 20 kills hitting .340. It is the third time she has been named Freshman of the Week this season and has also been named Player of the Week once.
• Shelton's hitting percentage is sixth best in the A-Sun at .297 for the season. She has had two matches this season where she has at least 17 kills with zero errors. The first one came against Jacksonville State when she had 17 kills and the second one came against USC Upstate when she had 23 kills.
• Kennesaw State currently leads the A-Sun in opponents hitting percentage at .166. They are also fourth in the league in hitting percentage at .220.
• A big part of leading the A-Sun in opponent hitting percentage is being second in the league in blocks. The Owls average 2.14 blocks per set. In conference matches, KSU is first in the A-Sun with 88.0 blocks in eight matches and second in the conference averaging 2.59 blocks per set.
• In conference matches, Kennesaw State has three players in the top five in blocks per set. Engelbrecht has 33.0 blocks in 28 sets and averages 1.18 per set.
Rachel Taylor averages 1.05 blocks per set and is fourth and
Amariah Boyer has 25.0 blocks in 244 sets averaging 1.04 blocks per set. The Owls have had at least 10 blocks in five of the eight conference matches.
Next UpKennesaw State will play its final two home matches of the year against Stetson and FGCU. The Owls will play the Hatters on Friday night and then have senior night against the Eagles on Saturday night.
