GAINESVILLE, Fla. — The Kennesaw State men's tennis team completed competition at the USTA/ITA Regional Championships in Gainesville, Florida over the weekend. Led by
Eduardo Rincon, Director of Tennis, doubles duo
Manuel Castellanos and
Simon Pritchard advanced to the round of 16 in doubles competition for the Owls.

The duo of Castellanos and Pritchard defeated Stetson, 8-6, before defeating crosstown rival Georgia Tech in the round of 32, 8-6, advancing to the round of 16 against North Florida. The duo for the season is now a respectable 2-1. In all, the Owls are 11-9 (.550) in doubles as the duo of
David Durham and
Drew Wendel have the most wins with four.

Pritchard also picked up a win in singles play, defeated Florida Atlantic in straight sets (6-4, 6-3). KSU's
Alejandro Valencia also picked up a win over Mercer in straight sets (6-3, 6-0), while freshman
Lucas de Torres Curth picked up a win over Florida State (6-2, 6-2) in straight sets.

The Owls will be back in action next weekend (Oct. 23-25) in the Georgia Southern Championships in Statesboro, Georgia.

Eduardo Rincon said, "I like the fact that we're competing extremely well and giving ourselves chances to come ahead. I feel like the results will come as long as we stay disciplined. Right now it's just a matter of keep practicing hard and staying positive".
