JACKSONVILLE, Fla. –
The Kennesaw State men's basketball team picked up its first A-Sun conference road win of the season against the Jacksonville Dolphins 51-50 on Saturday afternoon.

Great win for us to get another one on the road," head coach Jimmy Lallathin said. "I'm very proud of our guys resiliency. When there were some adverse situations in the game our guys responded well and showed a lot of poise. There are definitely some things we need to correct at the end, but getting a road win in conference play is big. It was their effort that put us through the top. It's always good to end a road trip with a win."

Bernard Morena notched his first double-double of the season scoring 12 points and 11 rebounds. He scored all of his points in the second half.

"Bernard Morena coming through with a double-double was phenominal for us, and hopefully, that sparks him to be the type of player we expect him to be for the rest of the year," Lallathin added.

Yonel Brown once again led the team in scoring with 15 points and five rebounds.

With the score tied at 46, the Owls came down on offense and senior Delbert Love hit a huge three to put the Owls up 49-46 with 1:38 remaining. Brown extended that lead to five points after hitting two free throws, but the Dolphins were still hanging around.

On the next possession, Marcellous Bell made a three while getting fouled and sank the free throw to cut the lead back to 51-50 with 28 seconds left. The Dolphins got one more chance with the ball, but missed three shots as the time ran out sealing the win for the Owls.

The win moves Kennesaw State to 7-16 overall and 2-5 in the A-Sun. That is the most wins for the Owls since the 2010-11 team.

In the first half, Jacksonville raced out to an early 10-point lead. The Owls responded to being down double-digits with a 15-2 run  over the next 10 minutes to take a 23-20 lead at halftime.

The second half was back and forth with the scored being tied six times and the lead changing four times.

The biggest lead of the game for the Owls came when they were up five points with 36 seconds left.

KSU will look to make it two in a row against Paine College on Tuesday, February 3 at 7 p.m.
