KENNESAW, Ga. – The Kennesaw State Athletics Association has announced plans to distribute student tickets for the inaugural 2015 Football season.
In the Spring 2013, a student ad hoc committee was created to determine the best options for allocating student tickets for football. This committee was chartered by SGA and members of President Papp's Cabinet. It was comprised of students from all areas of campus and leadership positions and was advised by members of the faculty, staff and athletics administration.
Students will enter a weighted lottery based on class credit hours earned – meaning Seniors have priority over Juniors; Juniors over Sophomores; Sophomores over Freshman. Membership in the Black & Gold Student Organization will also increase priority regardless of course credit hour priority.
"I want to thank everyone involved in helping make this decision, especially former SGA President Katherine Street and current SGA President Eric Johnson," Director of Ticket Sales and Operations
Bobby Lindsey said. "The student ad hoc committee comprised of students from all parts of campus, were really adamant about ensuring the maximum number of students had the most equitable method of attending football games. It was great to be part of the discussions in which they were more concerned about everyone attending games rather than just a select group. I'm pleased that this system allows for all of our unique needs."
Students will register for the student lottery on Owl Life for each game. Students must register for each game they would like to attend as each game has its own independent lottery.
If the student is informed that they received a ticket via the lottery, they will come to the Convocation Center during the designated time period to pick up their ticket for the upcoming game.
Full-time students that are enrolled in Fall 2015, who pay Athletics fees will be eligible for tickets. Distance learning students, TAP enrollees and others who receive a waiver from paying the athletics fees will not be eligible for the lottery or non-lottery distribution with the exception of Military Veterans and senior citizens who are full-time students that do not pay athletics fees.
For students that do not initially receive tickets in the lottery, they still have the possibility of receiving tickets. Tickets unclaimed by lottery winners will be made available to those in the stand-by line the day of the game. Students with tickets must be in the stadium no later than 10 minutes before the scheduled start time. Those students not in stadium could have tickets released to the students in the stand-by line as well. Tickets will be distributed to students in line in a first come first serve basis. Tickets are not guaranteed to those waiting in the stand-by line.
All student tickets are free and the student section will be general admission.
The first time the lottery will be used is for the spring football game on March 28. Further details will be released about this at a later date.
