THE OPPONENT:
Lipscomb
The Bisons come into Saturday's Atlantic Sun Conference opener with a 6-4-1 record after wrapping up nonconference action last weekend in Arizona. Lipscomb split a pair of games with a 3-1 loss to Arizona, before rebounding with a 1-0 win over Grand Canyon. Ellen Lundy leads the Bisons with eight points on four goals, while Natalie DuBoise owns six points on two goals and two assists. In goal for Lipscomb is Anna Buhigas, who owns a 0.73 goals-against average and has given up only eight goals in 11 matches. As a team, Lipscomb has posted a program-record seven shutouts in 2014.

THE SERIES:
The Owls own 9-1-0 advantage against the Bisons, posting wins in both meetings between the two teams a season ago. KSU earned a 2-1 win in the teams' regular-season meeting as sophomore Shannon Driscoll gave the Owls an early lead, before senior Nicole Calder headed in the game-winning goal in the 61st minute. The teams would meet again in the first-round of the 2013 Atlantic Sun Conference Tournament, with Driscoll scoring the game's only goal in the fifth minute of the match to send the Owls to the A-Sun semifinals in Fort Myers, Fla.

LAST TIME OUT:
The Kennesaw State soccer team split its last weekend of nonconference play, dropping a tough 1-0 decision to UT Martin despite dominating most of the match last Friday. The Owls outshot the Skyhawks 17-8, but could not put the ball in the goal as UTM scored the game-winner in the 71st minute. Two days later, the KSU offense came alive as the Owls rebounded for a 4-2 win over regional rival Samford on Sunday. Behind first-half goals from freshman Marit Sandtroeen and redshirt-sophomore Brittney Reed, the Owls and the Bulldogs entered halftime at a 2-2 draw. With just under 10 minutes remaining in the match, sophomore Maggie Gaughan provided the game-winner off of a cross from freshman Ashtah Das. Gaughan added a second goal on a 60-yard strike with just 25 seconds left to cement the victory.

NEXT UP:
Kennesaw State next returns home to Fifth Third Bank Stadium as the Owls continue A-Sun play with a 7 p.m. match against Stetson on Friday, Oct. 3, followed by a 1 p.m. match against 2013 A-Sun regular season champion Florida Gulf Coast on Sunday, Oct. 5.
