CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. –
The Kennesaw State volleyball team beat UT-Chattanooga 3-0 (25-14, 25-21, 25-23) to win its second road game in as many tries.

"I'm once again incredibly proud of how hard we played," head coach Keith Schunzel said. "For the fourth straight match, the opposing coach commented to me about how hard our team plays and that's a cool thing to hear as a head coach. I was really happy with our middle play tonight. Both Megan McGuinness and Chade Martin put up good numbers attacking and blocking and hit over.500 on the night. Winning on the road whether in conference our out of conference is always very hard to do, and I'm excited because our team this year understands the mental preparation and focus that is necessary to give ourselves a chance to do that."

In the opening set, the Owls took control from the beginning jumping out to a 4-1 lead. With the score at 16-13, KSU would close out the set on a 9-1 run to win 25-14.

Heading into the second set, the Mocs responded being down a set because they grabbed lead and held it until late. The Owls weathered the storm and tied up the score at 11 and would take their first lead at 17-16. With KSU leading 24-21, Kristi Piedimonte set Kelly Marcinek to take a two set lead.

Much of the third set was close until the Owls stretched out their lead at the very end to 24-21 and would go on to win the set 25-23 to clinch the match.

Piedimonte got her third start in a row and finished with 32 assists and five kills.

Marcinek led the team in kills once again with 12 while hitting .219. Martin had four kills while hitting .571 and three blocks. McGuinness finished with nine kills while hitting .727 and three blocks.

Toure Hopkins had 11 digs to go along with five kills.

With this win, the Owls have two wins on the road which matches their road wins from the 2013 season.

Now, KSU will travel home to host the Kennesaw State Invitational. On Friday, September 5 at 7:30, the Owls will play Elon. On Saturday, the Owls will play two matches against UNC Asheville at noon and then AVCA seventh ranked Purdue on Student Appreciation Night. Students will receive free poporn.

"We're obviously very excited to come home and play in our own gym," Schunzel said. "This team loves putting on the Kennesaw State jersey, and it'll be great to do that at home in front of our fans."
