CONWAY, S.C. – The Kennesaw State volleyball team responded in the final match of the Coastal Carolina Tournament by beating the Loyola Maryland Greyhounds in three sets (25-17, 25-18, 25-15).

"I'm very proud of our team this morning for coming out with great focus and urgency to compete at a high level," head coach
Keith Schunzel said. "We played steady, calm, executed well and kept pressure on our opponent the whole match. This morning was a nice step forward for our team to be able to come back after two tough losses yesterday. It showed a lot of maturity by our group to play the way we did today and take care of business."

The Owls spread the offense around totaling 39 kills with four players having at least six.
Chade Martin led the way with eight kills while
Anaiah Boyer and
Megan McGuinness both had seven.

Boyer was named to the All-Tournament Team after a totaling 37 kills and 36 digs over the three matches. She led the team in kills and digs in two of the three matches this weekend.

From the start on Saturday, the Owls came out ready to play never trailing in the match. In the first set, the score was 12-9 Owls and
Kristi Piedimonte stepped up to serve. She led the team on a 5-0 run with three straight service aces. McGuinness finished off the set with one of her seven kills.

KSU wouldn't let go of the momentum going into the second set. They once again jumped out to a lead and extended it in the middle of the set. KSU closed the set out behind a series of kills by Martin and Boyer.

The Owls made sure that the Greyhounds had no plans of making a comeback as they started the set on a 13-4 run and closed out the match 25-15.

Piedimonte finished with 22 assists, six digs and three service aces.

Next weekend, the Owls will travel to Stony Brook for their tournament. They will take on Western Michigan on Friday, September 19 at 2 p.m., Stony Brook Friday night at 7 p.m. and will finish the tournament on Saturday at 2 p.m. against Saint Francis (NY).
