NOTES | LIVE STATSTALKING POINTS» After going 2-1 in the opening weekend at the Belmont Invitational, the Owls will travel right up the road to play UT-Chattanooga at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, September 2.
» The Owls welcomed six freshmen to the team this year and five of them saw action in the Belmont Invitational.
» This weekend, the team will return home and host their annual tournament. The 2014 Kennesaw State Invitational will feature Elon, UNC Asheville and Purdue, the seventh ranked team in the AVCA Division I Coaches Poll. The Owls home opener will be against Elon on 7:30 on Friday, September 5.
» Against Belmont, the team held off eight set points in the third set alone before going to win it 36-34 and take a 2-1 set lead. The Owls then won the fourth set 27-25 to win the match.
THE COMPETITIONUT-Chattanooga UT-Chattanooga opened up the season in Husky Classic at Houston Baptist. They went 1-2 at the tournament losing to Tulsa and Northern Arizona and beating Houston Baptist.
Last Meeting: The Owls won 3-1 back in 2011.
Last Time Out » The Owls went 2-1 at the Belmont Invitational beating the host Belmont in their home opener in four sets and then beating Evansville in four sets the following morning. In a quick turnaround against Youngstown State, KSU lost in three sets.
KSU as a Team » The Owls were strong defensively during the first weekend. The team held their three opponents to a .169 hitting percentage. The lowest opponent hitting percentage was Evansville, who finished the game hitting .064 against the Owls.
» Against Belmont, KSU had 86 digs in the match which is more digs than the team had in any match in 2013. The most digs the team had during the 2013 season was 83 twice.

Kelly Marcinek,
Katarina Morton and
Megan McGuinness were named to the Belmont Invitational All-Tournament team. Marcinek led the team with 33 kills and 38 points during the weekend. Morton led the team with 50 digs and McGuinness hit .265 with nine kills and led the team with nine blocks.
» Marcinek started out 2014 with a double-double against Belmont. She set a career-high with 20 digs and added 13 kills. Against Evansville, she finished with 19 kills while hitting .282.
» Morton started all three games at the Belmont Invitational and led the team in digs against Belmont with 22 and against Evansville with 21.
»
Fanise Cannon had a good opening weekend. She finished with a double-double against Evansville with 12 kills and 13 digs. Cannon is second on the team in kills (27) and digs (30).

Michelle Witt and
Kristi Piedimonte split time at setter through the first three matches. Piedimonte finished the weekend with 59 assists, 10 kills and four blocks. Witt had 44 assists averaging 7.33 assists per set.
