KENNESAW, Ga. – Kennesaw State catcher Max Pentecost knocked the walk-off single on Friday night, locking up the Owls fifth consecutive Atlantic Sun Conference series win with a 5-4 victory over North Florida in Stillwell Stadium.

With the game tied up at 4-4 in the bottom of the last, Jacob Bruce sent a 1-out triple off the right-center field field wall. Pentecost then sent a line drive through the left side off of a 2-2 pitch, scoring Bruce and bringing the Owls the Senior Night victory.

Pentecost was one of three players with three hits along with Bruce and senior Bo Way, Way homering along with Chris McGowan who had a 2-hit night with a pair of RBIs.

KSU was good for 13 hits as a team while improving its record to 32-21 on the year and 16-9 in the A-Sun standings while dropping the Ospreys to 23-27 overall and 11-15 in the conference.

UNF got the scoring started in the top of the first, putting across one unearned run with the RBI single from the designated hitter Corbin Olmstead, giving the Ospreys their first lead of the series at 1-0.

The senior center fielder Way then came through with his second homer of the year in the bottom of the second, sending a shot over the right field wall to tie things up at one. A throwing error from the Ospreys brought home the go-ahead run with two outs in the inning in Chris McGowan to swing fortune back in favor of the Owls, 2-1.

KSU again benefited from the long ball in the bottom of the fifth as McGowan sent his fourth of the season to right field, scoring Way, who doubled earlier in the inning, to put KSU up by three.

North Florida then made it a new ballgame in the top of the ninth, scoring three runs off of closer Justin McCalvin to tie things up at 4-4 heading into the bottom of the ninth.

McCalvin would walk away the winner on the mound, however, as Pentecost shot his game winner in the home half to sure things up for the Owls.

Travis Bergen got the no-decision after seven innings of work in which he allowed nine hits and no earned runs. Cole McArthur also got an inning of work, giving up just one hit.

All three players with three hits for KSU had at least one for extra bases with McGowan stealing one base.

KSU turned two double plays from the field along with a nice outfield assists from Way.

Prior to the game, KSU recognized its three seniors in Andrew Austin, James Connell and Way.

The Owls will play their final home game of the 2014 season on Saturday, May 17, at 1 p.m. ET, wrapping-up the 3-game series with North Florida.
