Hokanson Breaks Single-Season Record in Goals and Points

WASHINGTON D.C. –
The Kennesaw State lacrosse team took the lead with 2:16 left in the first half and never gave it back as they would go on to beat the Howard Bison 24-10.
 
Olivia Hokanson led the way again for the Owls scoring seven goals in the match. The seven goals gives her 34 goals and 37 points on the season, and both are Kennesaw State single-season records.
 
"It felt very good to come back out in the second half and play the game that we know we are capable of playing, and that was the difference," head coach Kristina Llanes said. "Our student-athletes came out in the second half and took the momentum in the game."
 
Howard came out and grabbed an early lead before Kylar Ferguson got the Owls going with three goals to tie the score at five. Both teams traded goals when Sydney Farwick gave the Owls their first lead late in the first half. Hokanson added one more with 17 seconds left to give the Owls a two-goal lead at halftime.
 
Coming out of the locker room, the Owls went on a decisive six-goal run to start the half putting them up 15-7 and went on to outscore the Bison 15-3 in the half.
 
There were several career highs set during the game.
 
Taylor McGhee scored four goals, picked up four ground balls and won two draw controls on her birthday. The four goals was a career high. Kyra Fitzgerald also set a career high in goals with three.
 
Farwick continued her consistent play with three goals, three assists, three ground balls, three draw controls and three caused turnovers
 
In goal, Allison Senft set a career high with 10 saves in the game. Nicholette Hannah saw her first action as an Owl and made one save.
 
The Owls will travel to Elon, North Carolina for another Atlantic Sun matchup against Elon at 1 P.M. on Sunday, April 13.
