THE GAME:
The Kennesaw State women's basketball team opens its final week of regular season play as the Owls travel to Jacksonville, Fla., for a 7 p.m. ET contest against Jacksonville at historic Swisher Gymnasium on Thursday, March 6. The contest can be seen on ASun.TV.
 
The Owls currently sit in seventh place in the Atlantic Sun Conference standings, while the Dolphins are in a tie for fifth place heading into the final week of the regular season.

THE OPPONENT:
Jacksonville
The Dolphins enter Thursday's contest having dropped five of their last six games, including a 68-59 setback at USC Upstate on Saturday. JU's lone win in the stretch was a 62-57 victory at East Tennessee State last Thursday. The Dolphins sit in a tie with Mercer for fifth place in the league standings at 8-8 and are 11-16 overall. JU owns a 6-3 home mark at Swisher Gymnasium. The Dolphins averages two players in double figures, led by 13 points and 6.6 rebounds per game from Queen Alford. Sherranda Reddick adds 12.7 points per contest for the Dolphins.
 
THE SERIES:
This will be the 18th all-time meeting between the Owls and the Dolphins, with JU holding a 10-7 advantage over KSU. In the teams' earlier meeting this season, the Owls dropped its conference opener to the Dolphins, 74-63, despite a strong second half performance. Junior guard Kristina Wells posted her sixth double-double of the season with a season-high 17 points and 10 rebounds to lead the Owls, while junior guard Bria Young had 12 points on 5-of-8 shooting, including two three-pointers.
 
LAST TIME OUT:
It was a bittersweet day as the Kennesaw State women's basketball team honored redshirt-senior Lisa Capellan on Senior Day 2014, but ultimately fell to rival Mercer, 74-53, in the home finale on Saturday afternoon (March 1) at the KSU Convocation Center.

Kennesaw State closes out the 2013-14 regular season with a 1 p.m. ET contest against North Florida in Jacksonville, Fla.
 
NEWS AND NOTES:
1,000-Point Club
Junior guard Kristina Wells became the third player in the KSU Division I record books and the 103rd all-time in the Atlantic Sun Conference to reach the 1,000-point plateau after scoring  seven points against Mercer on Saturday.
 
Top League Scorers
KSU is one of two schools to have a pair of players in the top 10 in scoring in league play with Wells (18.3 ppg) and freshman guard Deandrea Sawyers (13.9 ppg) ranking second and seventh, respectively.
 
Young's Hot Hand
Junior guard Bria Young is averaging 12 points per game in the last seven games, including setting a new career high with 18 points and six three-pointers against Lipscomb on Feb. 6.
 
Doing it All
Wells continues to lead the Owls and ranks in the top seven in the conference in scoring (second, 16.1 ppg), minutes played (second, 35.7 mpg), rebounding (fourth, 9.1 rpg), assists (sixth, 3.1 apg), steals (t-sixth, 1.7 spg) and assist/turnover ratio (seventh, 0.7).
 
Wells in A-Sun
Wells ranks second in the A-Sun in scoring in conference play with 18.3 points per game and sits third in the league with 9.3 rebounds per game. She is shooting at a 46 percent clip in conference games, while also ranking third in minutes played (36.2) and fifth in assists with four per game.
 
Sawyers in Top 10
Sawyers is one of only two freshmen in the A-Sun to rank in the top-11 in scoring in both overall and conference play. Sawyers ranks seventh in league action with 13.9 points per game, while averaging 13 points per contest overall, which sits 11th in the conference.
 
Three-Pointers
Sawyers ranks second in the A-Sun and 120th in the NCAA with 2.1 three-pointers per game. She has drained 58 threes so far this season, which ranks third in program history for three-point field goals made in a season. Her 41 threes in league play rank second in the conference, while her 2.6 treys per league game lead the A-Sun.
