FARMVILLE, Va. –
When the Kennesaw State women's lacrosse team headed to Farmville, Virginia for the weekend, they wanted to keep improving and continue doing the small things it takes to build a successful program.

Although the result did not go the Owls way as they dropped the contest to Longwood 22-12, they were doing a lot of the little things throughout the game.

"We played smart as a team tonight all over the field," head coach Kristina Llanes said. We capitalized on many of our caused turnovers and had solid offensive transitions. Our youth showed in our turnovers, but there was no lack of hustle from the Owls tonight."

Freshmen goalie Peyton Murdock set a new career high in saves with 15. The team was also very successful on clear attempts going 11 of 12.

"Peyton anchored our defense in the cage and played very patient in hard situations," Llanes added. "We have been working on the small details in correct positioning, and I believe that is what lead to Peyton having such a great game."

Defensively, Taylor Southerland continued her great work as she picked up four ground balls along with causing two turnovers.

On the offensive end, Sydney Farwick led the Owls with five points on the night after netting a career high with four goals and one assist. Haley O'Donoghue and Olivia Hokanson each had four points. O'Donoghue had a career high with four goals, and Hokanson scored three goals and had one assist. Senior Emily Collins rounded out the scoring with one goal on a free-position shot.

The team won 19 draw controls to Longwood's 17 as Taylor McGhee led the way by winning six. Hokanson chipped in with five draw controls as well.

The Owls will play their third game in five days when they take on St. Francis at noon on Sunday, March 30. The game time has been moved up an hour from 1 P.M.
