THE GAME:
The Kennesaw State women's basketball team is set to make its fifth-straight appearance in the Atlantic Sun Conference Championship as the No. 7 seeded Owls travel to Deland, Fla., to take on No. 2 Stetson in the Edmunds Center on Tuesday, March 11. Game time is set for 7 p.m. ET and can be seen on ASun.TV.
 
The Owls finished the regular season at 6-23 and 4-14 in the league, while the Hatters fell just short of the regular season championship with a 16-2 mark in the conference and a 24-6 overall record.

THE OPPONENT:
Stetson
The Hatters are coming off of a heartbreaking 74-73 overtime loss to Florida Gulf Coast for the 2014 A-Sun regular season title. With the loss, Stetson enters the conference tournament as the No. 2 seed after finishing the regular season at 24-6 and 16-2 in the A-Sun. The Hatters are led by First-Team All A-Sun selections Sasha Sims (14.4 ppg), Jana Sharp (11.8 ppg) and Amber Porter (14.2 ppg, 8.0 rpg), who was also named A-Sun Freshman of the Year. Stetson owns a 23-23 record in the A-Sun Tournament and are the reigning tournament champions after defeating FGCU a season ago.   
 
THE SERIES:
This will be the 20th all-time meeting between the Owls and the Hatters, with Stetson holding a 16-3 advantage in the series with KSU. The Hatters have taken both meetings with the Owls this season, including an 87-57 win in the team's last meeting on Feb. 13. Freshman Deandrea Sawyers posted her seventh 20-point game of the season as she scored a game-high 21 points, including three three-pointers, to go along with six rebounds and four assists for the Owls.
 
LAST TIME OUT:
The Kennesaw State women's basketball team will enter the 2014 Atlantic Sun Championship as the No. 7 seed and will travel to Deland, Fla., to face No. 2 Stetson on Tuesday, March 11 at 7 p.m. ET after taking a 50-46 setback to North Florida in the regular season finale for both teams on Saturday afternoon (March 8).
 
Junior guard Kristina Wells led the Owls with 12 points to go along with five rebounds, three assists and three steals.
 
NEXT UP:
The winner of the Kennesaw State-Stetson contest will advance to the Atlantic Sun Conference Championship semifinals on Saturday, March 15 and will play the winner of No. 6 East Tennessee State versus No. 3 USC Upstate with the game time to-be-determined.
 
NEWS AND NOTES:
KSU in the A-Sun Tournament
KSU owns a 1-4 record in the A-Sun Championship and is 0-1 against the Hatters in the tournament. The Owls lone conference tournament win came in 2012 as No. 5 KSU posted a 51-49 win over No. 4 North Florida in the first round. The Owls, the eighth seed in last season's tournament, suffered a 73-47 setback to No. 1 seed Florida Gulf Coast in the opening round a season ago.
 
All-Freshmen Team Honoree
Freshman guard Deandrea Sawyers earned A-Sun All-Freshmen Team honors after an impressive rookie campaign. Sawyers is one of only two freshman in the A-Sun to rank in the top-12 in scoring in both overall and conference play. Sawyers ranks ninth in league action with 13.3 points per game, while averaging 12.7 points per contest overall, which sits 12th in the conference.
 
1,000-Point Club
Junior guard Kristina Wells became the third player in the KSU Division I record books and the 104th all-time in the Atlantic Sun Conference to reach the 1,000-point plateau on March 1 and has totaled 1,024 points in her KSU career.
 
Top 10 Scorers
KSU is one of only two schools to have a pair of players in the top 10 in scoring in league play with Wells (17.3 ppg) and Sawyers (13.3 ppg) ranking second and ninth, respectively.
 
Doing it All
Wells continues to lead the Owls and ranks in the top seven in the conference in scoring (third, 15.7 ppg), minutes played (third, 35.2 mpg), rebounding (fourth, 8.8 rpg), steals (sixth, 1.7 spg) assists (seventh, 3.0 apg) and assist/turnover ratio (seventh, 0.7).
 
Wells in League Play
Wells ranks second in the A-Sun in scoring in conference play with 17.3 points per game and sits fourth in the league with 8.7 rebounds per game. She is shooting at a 46 percent clip in conference games, while also ranking second in minutes played (35.4) and fifth in assists with 3.6 per game.
 
Sawyers Behind the Arc
Sawyers has made the second-most three-pointers in the A-Sun with 60 and is averaging 2.1 treys per game, which ranks third in the A-Sun and 131st in the NCAA. Her 60 threes ranks third in program history for three-point field goals made in a season.
 
Brooks Coming On
Freshman forward Gratia Brooks is averaging 9.5 points and 5.5 rebounds in the last four games, including leading the Owls in scoring against Mercer and Jacksonville.
