RICHMOND, Ky. – The Kennesaw State men's tennis team put together a solid team effort in defeating host Eastern Kentucky, 4-3, Friday at the Greg Adams Tennis Center in Richmond, Ky.

After capturing the doubles point with wins at the No. 1 and No. 3 positions, the match came down to the No. 5 singles match.

Freshman David Durham clinched the win for the Owls (4-5) after defeating Florian Graskamp, 6-2, 6-3. Junior Louis Theodor also had a big win as he outlasted Sebastian Mueller at No. 4 singles, 6-3, 5-7, 7-5.

"Today was a complete team effort," head coach Eduardo Rincon said. "EKU is a very talented team and they competed well. It was a hostile environment and we played mentally and physically tough. Before the match we talked about 'getting over the hump' and we did. I'm proud of the team and I'm very glad that all of our hard work is slowly paying off."

Sophomore Jorge Wilton recorded a 7-5-6-3 win at No. 2 singles. It was the second victory of the day for Wilton, who teamed with Maksim Yorsh to record an 8-6 win at No. 1 doubles.

Durham and Alex Pena combined to post an 8-6 win at No. 3 doubles.

Kennesaw State returns to action on Sunday, Mar. 9, when it hosts Tennessee Tech at Fair Oaks Park in Marietta. First serve is scheduled for 11 a.m. (ET).
