THE GAME:
The Kennesaw State women's basketball team continues its home stand as the Owls host Northern Kentucky in an Atlantic Sun Conference contest on Saturday, Feb. 8 at the KSU Convocation Center. Tip is scheduled for 2 p.m. ET and can be seen on the ESPN3 network.

THE OPPONENT:
Northern Kentucky
The Norse enter Saturday's contest on a two-game winning streak after halting Florida Gulf Coast's 44-game conference win streak with a 63-43 victory over the Eagles last Saturday, before taking a 72-64 win at Mercer on Thursday night. NKU is paced by Melody Doss, who owns the fourth-best scoring average in the conference with 15.9 points per game to go along with 7.5 rebounds per outing. Kayla Thacker adds 12.1 points per game and leads the team with 37 three-pointers on the season.
 
THE SERIES:
This will be the fourth all-time meeting between the Owls and the Norse, with NKU winning the previous three matchups for a 3-0 advantage in the series. The teams' earlier meeting this season, the Norse took a 79-51 win over the Owls on Jan. 11 in Highland Heights, Ky. Freshman guard Deandrea Sawyers led KSU with 17 points, including four three-pointers.
 
LAST TIME OUT:
It was a complete team effort as the Kennesaw State women's basketball team swept the season series with Lipscomb with an 88-79 win over the Bisons on Thursday night (Feb. 6) at the KSU Convocation Center. Junior guard Kristina Wells was two points shy of tying her career high with 30 points including 18-of-23 from the free throw line, to go along with seven rebounds and five assists in the Owls' victory.

Kennesaw State next heads south for a date with the Stetson Hatters in the Edmunds Center on Thursday, Feb. 13 in Deland, Fla. Tip is slated for 6 p.m. ET and can be seen on ASun.TV.
 
NEWS AND NOTES:
Defensive Rebounding  
In league play, the Owls lead the conference in defensive rebounding percentage (.706), while ranking third in overall action in rebounding defense and are holding teams to only 38.4 boards per game and fourth in rebounding margin at +1.1.
 
Three-Point Shooting
KSU ranks third in conference play in three-point field goals per game with 7.0 threes per contest and is shooting 32.4 percent from three-point land in league games which sits third in the A-Sun. Overall, the Owls are averaging six threes per contest, which is good for 107th in the nation and have connected on 127 treys this season.
 
Threes in a Game
KSU have made six or more treys on 11 occasions, including tying the program record with 12 at Lipscomb on Jan. 9th.
 
Scoring 80 Points or More
KSU holds a 3-0 record when scoring 80 or more points and a 2-16 mark when the Owls score less than 80 points.
 
Offensive Rebounds
KSU is grabbing more offensive boards then their opponents, 274-258, and are averaging 13.4 per game, which sits third in the A-Sun.
 
Wells Leading the Way
Junior guard Kristina Wells continues to lead the Owls and ranks in the top seven in the conference in scoring (third, 16.1 ppg), minutes played (third, 35.2 mpg), rebounding (fourth, 8.9 rpg), assists (sixth, 3.0 apg) and steals (seventh, 1.5 spg).
 
Triple-Doubles and Double-Doubles
Wells owns the only triple double in the A-Sun this season and ranks second in the league and 38th in the nation with 10 double-doubles. Her 11 10-rebound games are the third-most in the conference.
 
Wells in A-Sun Action
In conference play, Wells sits second in scoring (19.5 ppg), third in rebounding (8.8 rpg) and is shooting at 50 percent from the field. The junior also ranks fifth in assists (3.9) and in minutes played (35.7).
 
Sawyers Behind the Arc
Freshman guard Deandrea Sawyers has lit up from behind the arc, ranking second in the A-Sun and 78th in the country with 2.4 three-pointers per game. She has drained 50 three so far this season, which ranks third in program history for three-point field goals made in a season.
 
Fantastic Freshman
In league play, Sawyers ranks fourth in scoring with 15.9 points per contest, while leading the A-Sun with 33 three-pointers and 3.3 threes per game.
 
Smith Coming On
Freshman forward Aareon Smith is averaging 10.3 points and 6.3 rebounds per game while starting the last four contests.
