The GAME
The Kennesaw State women's lacrosse team will begin its second season at Fifth Third Bank Stadium against the Vanderbilt Commodores at 5 P.M.
Sturgis, Kennesaw State's live Owl, will be at the game and will be available to take pictures with the fans as they arrive.
Fans will also be given a Shane Co. bag when they enter Fifth Third Bank Stadium.

The Commodores are looking to bounce back from a 2-15 season in which the team went winless in the tough American Lacrosse Conference.
Last Meeting: In Kennesaw State's first game ever, Vanderbilt won 22-3.

The Owls will travel to Conway, S.C. to take on Coastal Carolina on Saturday, February 22 at 1 P.M.

"We are excited to welcome Vanderbilt to Kennesaw State for our home opener. The team has been working hard to come together for the season and progress as a program. Vanderbilt will challenge us to continue to improve and give us the opportunity to represent KSU in a strong way. We are looking for our leaders to step up and contribute. Team captains Emily Collins, Taylor Southerland and Taylor McGhee have been focusing on mental preparation this week with the team and it will show at 5:00 tomorrow."
NEWS AND NOTES:
» The three captains named for this year's team are senior
Emily Collins, sophomore
Taylor Southerland, and freshman
Taylor McGhee.
» Along with the three captains, there are ten returning players that will be looking to guide the newcomers in their first season in NCAA Division I lacrosse.
» In the team's second year, they have welcomed 14 newcomers onto the team. There are 12 freshmen and two transfers.
» The team is entering its second year as a program and the only NCAA Division I lacrosse team in Georgia.
» KSU was picked to finish fourth in the A-Sun in the Preseason Coaches Poll.
» The Owls will be playing four teams that are either entering their second year or are starting their first year. Coastal Carolina, Campbell, and Stetson are all going into their second year. Elon, the newest member of the A-Sun, is starting its first year.
» Last season, KSU led the Atlantic Sun conference in attendance with an average of 560 fans per game.
» The team will have its first senior player this year in
Emily Collins. She was second on the team last year in points with 25. Collins also averaged 1.73 goals per game, which was ninth in the conference.
» Collins tallied the most points in any game last season with 8 against Howard (4/12/13).
» Freshmen
Olivia Hokanson and
Taylor McGhee were named to the 2014 Preseason A-Sun Newcomer Watchlist.

Taylor Southerland finished last season with 23 draw controls to finish second on the team.
