THE GAME:
The Kennesaw State women's basketball team returns to the KSU Convocation Center to open the second round of Atlantic Sun Conference play against Lipscomb on Thursday, Feb. 6. Tip is set for 7 p.m. ET and can be seen on the ESPN3 network.

THE OPPONENT:
Lipscomb
The Bisons (3-17) enter Thursday's contest riding a 10-game winless streak and last won on December 21 against Gardner-Webb. Lipscomb is coming off an 82-47 loss to Stetson on Saturday. The Bisons have five players in double figures, led by Danay Fothergill, who is averaging 20 points per game in overall action. In conference play, the Bison have three players registering double figures and two in the top five of the A-Sun, including Fothergill with a league-leading 22 points per contest and Ashley Southern, who ranks fifth with 15.9 points per game. All three of the Bisons wins this season have come away from Nashville.
 
THE SERIES:
This will be the 17th all-time meeting between the Owls and the Bisons, with KSU holding an 11-5 advantage over Lipscomb, including a dramatic 82-78 win in Nashville when the two teams met earlier this season on Jan. 9. Junior guard Kristina Wells put on an historic performance as she posted KSU's first-ever Division I triple-double with 18 points, 11 rebounds and 11 assists, while freshman Deandrea Sawyers equaled her career-high with 24 points and seven three-pointers.
 
LAST TIME OUT:
The Kennesaw State women's basketball team battled until the end, but the comeback fell short as the Owls dropped a 64-59 decision to rival Mercer on Saturday afternoon (Feb. 1) at Hawkins Arena. Junior guard Kristina Wells registered her 10th double-double of the season with 16 points and 10 rebounds.
 
NEXT UP:
Kennesaw State continues its home stand with a 2 p.m. ET contest against Northern Kentucky in the KSU Convocation Center on Saturday, Feb. 8. The game will be available to watch on the ESPN3 network.
 
NEWS AND NOTES:
Defensive Rebounding
In league play, the Owls lead the conference in defensive rebounding percentage (.700), while ranking third in overall action with 37.2 defensive rebounds per game and fourth in rebounding margin at +1.0.
 
Three-Pointers
KSU ranks third in conference play in three-point field goals per game with 6.8 threes per contest and is shooting 30.2 percent from three-point land in league games which sits fifth in the A-Sun. Overall, the Owls are averaging six threes per contest, which is good for 117th in the nation and have connected on 118 treys this season.
 
Offensive Rebounds
KSU is grabbing more offensive boards then their opponents, 267-249, and are averaging 13.4 per game, which sits third in the A-Sun.
 
Top Five Scorers in A-Sun
KSU is one of two schools who have a pair of players in the top five in scoring in league play with junior guard Kristina Wells (18.3 ppg) and freshman guard Deandrea Sawyers (16.1 ppg) ranking second and fourth, respectively.
 
Sawyers Moving Up
With two three-pointers against Mercer, Sawyers grabbed sole possession of third place in three-point field goals made in a season with 49. Taylor Mills hold the record with 78 three-pointers during the 2011-12 season.
 
Leading the Way
Wells continues to lead the Owls and ranks in the top six in the conference in minutes played (third, 35.3 mpg), rebounding (fourth, 9.0 rpg), scoring (fifth, 15.4 ppg), assists (sixth, 2.9 apg) and steals (T-sixth, 1.6 spg).
 
Triple Doubles and Double Doubles
Wells owns the only triple double in the A-Sun this season and ranks second in the league and 32nd in the nation with 10 double-doubles. Her 11 10-rebound games are the third-most in the conference.
 
Sawyers behind the Arc
Sawyers has lit up from behind the arc, ranking second in the A-Sun and 66th in the country with 2.5 three-pointers per game.
 
Wells in A-Sun Action
In conference play, Wells sits second in scoring (18.3 ppg), third in rebounding (9.0 rpg) and is shooting at 50 percent from the field. The junior also ranks fifth in assists (3.8), sixth in minutes played (35.9) and eighth in blocked shots (0.9).
 
Fantastic Freshman
In league play, Sawyers ranks fourth in scoring with 16.1 points per contest, while leading the A-Sun with 32 three-pointers and 3.6 threes per game.
