THE GAME:
The Kennesaw State women's basketball team continues its trip to the Sunshine State as the Owls do battle with Atlantic Sun Conference co-leader Florida Gulf Coast at Alico Arena in Fort Myers, Fla., on Saturday, Feb. 15. Tip is set for 7:05 p.m. ET and can be seen on ESPN3.

THE OPPONENT:
Florida Gulf Coast
Despite having their 44-conference game winning streak broken by Northern Kentucky on Feb. 1, the Eagles continued to lead the A-Sun standings with Stetson at 11-1 in league play. FGCU is riding a three-game win streak and is 10-2 at Alico Arena this season after posting a 99-57 win over Mercer on Thursday. The Eagles average three players in double figures, led by reigning A-Sun Player of the Year Sarah Hansen with 14 points per game. She also leads FGCU with almost seven rebounds and two steals per contest. As a team, the Eagles average 10 threes per game.
 
THE SERIES:
This will be the 16th all-time meeting between the Owls and the Eagles, with FGCU holding a 13-2 advantage over KSU. In the teams' earlier meeting this season, the Eagles took a 69-55 win over the Owls at the KSU Convocation Center on Jan. 16. Junior guard Kristina Wells posted her eighth double-double of the season with 14 points and 11 rebounds, to go along with two blocks and two steals. Freshman guard Deandrea Sawyers added 13 points and three assists for the Owls.
 
LAST TIME OUT:
Freshman guard Deandrea Sawyers posted her seventh 20-point game of the season, but it was not enough as the Kennesaw State women's basketball team snapped a two-game win streak in a 87-57 setback to Stetson on Thursday night (Feb. 13) at the Edmunds Center. Sawyers scored a game-high 21 points to go along with six rebounds and four assists for the Owls.
 
NEXT UP:
Kennesaw State returns to the KSU Convocation Center for a pair of games, first hosting East Tennessee State on Thursday, Feb. 20. Game time is scheduled for 7 p.m. and can be seen on the ESPN3 network.
 
NEWS AND NOTES:
1,000 Point Club
Junior guard Kristina Wells is closing in on 1,000 points in her career with 931 in her three seasons as an Owl. She leads KSU with 361 points in 2013-14.
 
Top Five Scorers
KSU is one of two schools to have a pair of players in the top five in scoring in league play with Wells (18.2 ppg) and freshman guard Deandrea Sawyers (15.8 ppg) ranking second and fourth, respectively.
 
Young's Hot Hand
Junior guard Bria Young is averaging 14.7 points per game in the last three games, including setting a new career high with 18 points and six three-pointers against Lipscomb on Feb. 6.
 
Smith Coming On
Freshman forward Aareon Smith is averaging nine points and six rebounds per game while starting the last six contests.
 
Wells Named A-Sun POW
Wells was named A-Sun Player of the Week on Feb. 10 after averaging 23 points, 10.5 rebounds, 4.5 assists and 2.5 steals, while going 26-of-33 from the free throw line in victories over Lipscomb and NKU. It was her third career honor after twice garnering Newcomer of the Week during her freshman season.
 
Three-Pointers per Game
KSU ranks fourth in conference play in three-point field goals per game with 7.0 threes per contest and is shooting 32.7 percent from three-point land in league games which sits fifth in the A-Sun. Overall, the Owls are averaging six threes per contest, which is good for 98th in the nation and have connected on 141 treys this season.
