TALKING POINTS
» The Kennesaw State basketball team is back home and will take on the Kent State Golden Flashes this Saturday at noon.
» The Owls have beaten the first two NCAA Division I opponents they have faced at home for the first time in program history after beating Samford and Chattanooga.
» Junior point guard Yonel Brown leads the Atlantic Sun in minutes played averaging 36.0 and free throw percentage making 89.7 percent. As the floor general for the Owls, he is the leader in points per game and assists.

The game against Kent State is sponsored by the Shane Company. With the game being right before exams, it will be a great study break for students. Georgia Lottery is giving away $1000 to two students, Wellstar is providing free massages, the KSU Bookstore is giving away a semester's worth of books and four students will win passes and t-shirts for Cram Jam.
 
THE COMPETITION
KENT STATE                                    
Three Kent State players average 11 or more points per game this season. Hall leads the way with 15.0 points per game and also leads the team in rebounding (7.0 rpg), blocked shots (6) and field goal percentage (.585). Senior Kris Brewer (11.3 ppg) and Derek Jackson (11.8 ppg) give the Flashes balanced scoring on the perimeter. Brewer leads the team in assists (3.5 apg).
 
LAST TIME OUT
A career-high 16 points from forward Bernard Morena wasn't enough to move the Kennesaw State men's basketball team past the Golden Flashes as the Owls took a 68-51 loss at Kent State University.
 
» NEWS AND NOTES
This Week in KSU Men's Basketball     
»    After going 2-0 at home, the Owls traveled to Miami, Florida to play Florida International on Monday night. The Panthers beat the Owls 59-38.
»    On Saturday, KSU will look to stay undefeated in the Convocation Center as they host Kent State at noon.
 
KSU as a Team                                                  
»    Prior to losing to FIU, the three game winning streak the Owls had was their longest winning streak since the 2009-10 season when that team won six in a row.
»    Beating Samford and Chattanooga marks the first time that the Owls have beaten the first two NCAA Division I opponents they have faced at home.
»    Defensively, the Owls have been tough to score on in the paint all season. Led by Willy Kouassi, KSU leads the A-Sun in blocks with 42 on the season averaging 5.3 per game. Against FIU, the Owls perimeter defense stepped up as the team held FIU to 15.4 percent shooting from behind the arc.
»    In what was a grueling early season schedule, KSU faced off against four 2013-14 NCAA Tournament teams during the first four games.
»    Against Chattanooga, the team was 34-44 from the free throw line shooting 77.3 percent. Both of these marks were the second most in school history.
 
KSU Individually                                              
»    Yonel Brown set a new career high and tied the KSU points record with 32 points in the last home game against Chattanooga. He also set new program records in free throws and free throws attempted going 18-21 from the charity stripe. Brown is now leading the team in scoring averaging 14.0 points per game.
»    With Brown making 89.7 percent of his free throws he leads the A-Sun by five percent.
»    Junior Nigel Pruitt earned 2K Classic All-Tournament Team honors after going off for 20 points against North Dakota State followed by 11 against Alcorn State. Pruitt is second on the squad in points per game with 12.0.
»    Orlando Coleman leads the team with three double-doubles, earning 14 points and 12 rebounds at Mercer followed by a career-high 20-point, 12-rebound contest at Alcorn State and 12 points and 10 rebounds against Samford.
»    In the paint, Kouassi has been a force for the Owls, leading the conference with 17 blocks. The center has multiple blocks in six of the past seven games and also has won seven of the first eight opening tips for KSU.
