» The Kennesaw State basketball team plays its second game in three days at home against Elon on Monday, December 22 at 3 p.m.
» Non-conference wins on the road haven't been easy for the Owls since they made the jump to Division I. The win at Youngstown State was their sixth non-conference road win since making the jump. KSU has beaten Chattanooga twice, South Carolina State in 2012-13, Colgate in 2008-09 and Gardner Webb in 2007-08.

ELON                                               
The Phoenix is coming off an 18-14 campaign in the Southern Conference under sixth-year head coach Matt Matheny. Elon welcomes back starters Austin Hamilton (6.2 ppg, 2.5 apg) and Tanner Samson (9.4 ppg, 3.6 rpg), while returning a total of 10 non-starters. Senior guard Kevin Blake (4.7 ppg) and senior forward Ryan Winters (3.0 ppg) join Hamilton to make up this year's senior class.

The UMBC Retrievers beat the Kennesaw State Owls basketball team 66-53 on Saturday, December 20. The Owls had four players in double figures with Yonel Brown leading the team with 13.

This Week in KSU Men's Basketball     
»    After going 1-1 this week beating Youngstown State 90-84 to capture the team's first road win of the season, the Owls lost to UMBC 66-53.
»    The team now will play Elon on Monday at 3 p.m. on ESPN3.
 
KSU as a Team                                                  
»    Non-conference wins on the road haven't been easy for the Owls since they made the jump to Division I. The win at Youngstown State was their sixth non-conference road win since making the jump. KSU has beaten Chattanooga twice, South Carolina State in 2012-13, Colgate in 2008-09 and Gardner Webb in 2007-08.       
»    The Owls are 4-1 when the team had the lead or was tied at halftime.
»    Defensively, the Owls have been tough to score on in the paint all season. Against Youngstown State, Jordan Jones joined the block party having four of Kennesaw State's five in the game. KSU is 27th in the country in blocks and leads the A-Sun in blocks with 55 on the season averaging 4.6 per game.
»    KSU scored 90 points in the win at Youngstown State making 33 field goals shooting 53.2 percent from the field. The 90 points and 33 field goals are both season highs for the Owls.
»    The Owls currently lead the A-Sun in free throw percentage at .692. With Youngstown State trying to make a late run, Nigel Pruitt and Delbert Love combined to make seven clutch free throws to put the game on ice.

KSU Individually                                              
»    Junior Nigel Pruitt set a new career high with 29 points at Youngstown State hitting six threes to tie a Kennesaw State record. At one point in the first half he scored 14 straight points for the Owls. Earlier in the season, Pruitt got off to a hot start earning 2K Classic All-Tournament Team honors after going off for 20 points against North Dakota State followed by 11 against Alcorn State.
»    Yonel Brown led the team once again with 13 points against UMBC. Earlier in the week he had 18 points and eight assists against Youngstown State giving him double-digit scoring in seven of the past eight games. The eight assists was a season high for the team. 
»    With Brown making 86.8 percent of his free throws he leads the A-Sun in that category as well as in minutes played averaging 36.3. Brown leads the team in scoring (13.5) and assists (35).
» Delbert Love had a season high in points at Youngstown State with 24 points and 19 of those came in the second half. He added seven rebounds and five assists. His scoring has picked up in the last four games scoring in double figures in the each of them.
