» The Kennesaw State basketball team heads back to the Convocation Center after claiming their first road win of the season at Youngstown State 90-84. On Saturday, the Owls host University of Maryland Baltimore County at 3 p.m. on ESPN3
» Non-conference wins on the road haven't been easy for the Owls since they made the jump to Division I. The win at Youngstown State was their sixth non-conference road win since making the jump. KSU has beaten Chattanooga twice, South Carolina State in 2012-13, Colgate in 2008-09 and Gardner Webb in 2007-08.
 
THE COMPETITION
Maryland Baltimore County 
UMBC got its first victory of the season, as the Retrievers edged Longwood, 58-53, in their third home game of the year on Sun., Dec. 14. Today's contest at Kennesaw State is a homecoming for SR F Devarick Houston, who grew up in Mays, Ga., approximately 27 miles from Kennesaw. Approximately 40 family members and friends are expected to attend the game.

In a game where the Owls needed players to step up, the team did just that getting the first road win of the season topping Youngstown State 90-84. Nigel Pruitt set a new career high with 29 points hitting six threes to tie a Kennesaw State school record.

Santa Claus will be at the game for alumni day against UMBC. For every adult that comes to the game, they can get one free ticket for a child. The first 300 fans will receive gift tags.

This Week in KSU Men's Basketball     
» Kennesaw State got its first road victory of the 2014-15 campaign at Youngstown State topping the Penguins 90-84. Pruitt had a season high 29 points and Delbert Love had a season high 24 with 19 of those coming in the second half.
» The team now will play UMBC on Saturday at 3 p.m. and Elon on Monday at 3 p.m. Both games will be broadcasted on ESPN3.

» Non-conference wins on the road haven't been easy for the Owls since they made the jump to Division I. The win at Youngstown State was their sixth non-conference road win since making the jump. KSU has beaten Chattanooga twice, South Carolina State in 2012-13, Colgate in 2008-09 and Gardner Webb in 2007-08.       
» In every win for KSU this season, the team had a lead or was tied at halftime.
» Defensively, the Owls have been tough to score on in the paint all season. Against Youngstown State, Jordan Jones joined the block party having four of Kennesaw State's five in the game. KSU is 27th in the country in blocks and leads the A-Sun in blocks with 53 on the season averaging 4.8 per game.
» KSU scored 90 points in the win at Youngstown State making 33 field goals shooting 53.2 percent from the field. The 90 points and 33 field goals are both season highs for the Owls.
» The Owls currently lead the A-Sun in free throw percentage at .686. With Youngstown State trying to make a late run, Pruitt and Love combined to make seven clutch free throws to put the game on ice.
 
KSU Individually                                              
» Pruitt set a new career high with 29 points at Youngstown State hitting six threes to tie a Kennesaw State record. At one point in the first half he scored 14 straight points for the Owls. Earlier in the season, Pruitt got off to a hot start earning 2K Classic All-Tournament Team honors after going off for 20 points against North Dakota State followed by 11 against Alcorn State.
» Yonel Brown had 18 points and eight assists against Youngstown State giving him double-digit scoring in six of the last seven games. The eight assists was a season high for the team. 
» With Brown making 86.8 percent of his free throws he leads the A-Sun in that category as well as in minutes played averaging 36.3. Brown leads the team in scoring (13.5) and assists (35).
» Love had a season high in points at Youngstown State with 24 points and 19 of those came in the second half. He added seven rebounds and five assists. His scoring has picked up in the last three games scoring in double figures in the last three games.
» Jones received his most extensive action of the season to date and was a huge lift for the Owls off of the bench. He finished the game with 10 rebounds, six points and four blocks.
