DELAND, Fla. – The Kennesaw State volleyball team lost a tough four-set match against the Stetson Hatters (25-21, 23-25, 27-29, 20-25).
Anaiah Boyer set a career high in kills with 17 and had another double-double with 13 digs.
Kristi Piedimonte filled up the stat sheet with 43 assists, nine digs, six kills and three service aces.
Katarina Morton led one of four players to have double-digit digs with 15.
Coming out of the locker room tied 1-1, both teams didn't give an inch. The Owls finally got some separation from a
Kelly Marcinek kill and a Boyer ace to go up 15-12. KSU had two set points at 24-23 and 25-24, but both attempts were spoiled by the Hatters. Stetson then had two set points that KSU fought off, but the Owls couldn't hold off a third one as the Hatters went up 2-1 in the match.
To open the match, the Owls went on a 5-0 run right off the bat, and the team didn't let the Hatters back in the set after that going on to claim the first set 21-25.
In the second set, the teams traded points for most of the set until Stetson grabbed a two-point lead at 17-15 and that proved to be the difference as the Hatters went on to win the set 25-23.
Stetson built a big lead early in the fourth set at 10-3. The Owls clawed back to cut the deficit to two, but that's as close as they got.
Next week, the Owls will finish off their 2014 regular season as they travel to Northern Kentucky on Friday, November 14 at 6:30 p.m. and then face first place Lipscomb on Saturday, November 15 at 3 p.m.
