» NEWS AND NOTES
Last Time Out
»   The Owls dropped both matches on their final Atlantic Sun road trip to Northern Kentucky and Lipscomb. NKU won Friday night 3-0 and Lipscomb clinched their regular season championship title against KSU in four sets.

Coach Schunzel after the Loss to Lipscomb
»   "The thing I'll remember most about our team this year is how hard we fought no matter what situation we were in. Today, we came into the match against the best team in the league knowing we weren't in the conference tournament and played very well, focused and energetic, but just came up short. The players on our team and our staff need to keep developing our skills, training hard and improving so that some day, we can be in the position that Lipscomb was in tonight celebrating a conference championship. We have a fantastic group of players returning as well as a big time recruiting class and there is no doubt in my mind that we will be better next year when we get back into A-Sun play. We have one more chance to put on the Kennesaw State jersey, which we put a lot of pride in. We'll play our hearts out and try to win the match."

KSU as a Team
»   The matches in A-Sun play so far have been nail biters for the Owls. Three of the four KSU wins were in five sets, and until the loss to North Florida, Kennesaw State had been undefeated in conference matches that went the distance. For the season, the Owls are 4-2 in five set matches.
»   The match against Jacksonville set a couple of season highs for the Owls with 216 attack attempts and the team had 108 digs. The previous highs for these categories were 193 against USC Upstate and 86 digs against Belmont in the opening match this season.
»   Against Stetson, the Owls had four players reach double-digit digs as Morton led the way with 15, Toure Hopkins had 14 and Boyer and Fanise Cannon each had 13. This was the first four-set match that KSU has had four players with double-digits digs. The other two matches this happened during the year were against Jacksonville where the team had 108 digs and the conference opener against USC Upstate. Both of those matches were five setters.

KSU Individually
» Piedimonte averages 8.74 assists per set this season and in conference matches averages 9.41. That clip in conference matches was fifth best for setters. Piedimonte is also very aggressive as she leads the team with a .273 attack percentage and 108 kills on the season.
» Morton is second in the conference in digs per set averaging 4.48. In conference play, her level of play has gone up as she is averaging 4.90 digs per set, which was also second in the A-Sun. She currently has the second most digs in a single season at Kennesaw State with 466.
» Piedimonte and Morton's service has been an offensive weapon for the Owls all season. Piedimonte leads the team with 35 and Morton has 31. The single-season record at Kennesaw State was 33 by Holly Knight in 2011.
