MERCERMercer, now a member of the Southern Conference, heads into Wednesday night at 1-1 with a win over Piedmont and a loss to Seton Hall. The Bears are shooting a lights-out 42 percent from the field and averaging 68 points per contest.

Even with a stellar performance from junior Nigel Pruitt, the Kennesaw State men's basketball team couldn't overcome a potent Cal offense, falling to the Bears 93-59 in the second game of the 2K Classic Benefiting the Wounded Warrior Foundation on Sunday afternoon.
NEXT UP:KSU remains on the road this weekend, taking to Fargo, North Dakota for two games to wrap up the 2K Classic benefiting the Wounded Warriors Foundation.
NEWS AND NOTES:Pruitt's Hot HandNigel Pruitt has paced the Owls through the first two games, putting in 13.5 points per outing including 16 at Cal. The junior is also tops in rebounding with 4.5 boards per game and field goal percentage at a .526 success rate.
Owls on the RoadKSU will travel over 10,000 miles in its first five games, taking to three states and three time zones.
At the StripeKSU has turned in to one of the top free-throw shooting teams in the conference in the early goings, putting in 63 percent of its tries from the stripe.

In the PaintThe Owls have also played tough under the basket so far, averaging 3.5 blocks per game.

Perimeter DMuch like last season, KSU has played tight defense around the perimeter, holding opponents to just 11 three-pointers through the first two outings.
