KENNESAW, Ga. –
After a big five-set win on Friday night, the Kennesaw State volleyball team (10-14, 4-6) was in another five set battle on Saturday against North Florida (11-15, 4-6), but unfortunately, this time the Owls lost in the end (14-25, 25-21, 25-22, 21-25, 9-15).

"First and foremost, I'm proud of the team because we challenged them in the locker room last night to come out and win today after an emotional night last night," head coach Keith Schunzel said. "And after getting blown out in the first set, we came out and played hard and took the second and the third, and I'm proud of them for rising to that challenge."

Seniors Ria Ridley finished with seven kills and nine digs and Chade Martin had four kills.

Kelly Marcinek led the team with 10 kills.

Kristi Piedimonte had 33 assists and five kills while Katarina Morton led the team with 19 digs.

After dropping the first set, the second set was tied at 13, the Owls used a 5-1 run to grab an 18-14 lead and force a timeout by North Florida. The Owls maintained that lead on the heels of Fanise Cannon serving and closed out the set 25-21.

In the third set, the Owls kept their foot on the pedal grabbing a 12-8 lead and held off a late Osprey run to clinch the set 25-22 on a kill by Piedimonte.

With the fourth set tied at 20, the Ospreys closed the set on a 5-1 run to tie the score at two sets each. In the fifth, UNF went on a 5-0 run to take a 7-3 lead and went on to clinch the match 15-9.

Next week, KSU will be back on the road as they fly to Fort Myers to face Florida Gulf Coast on Friday, November 7 at 7 p.m. and Stetson on Saturday, November 8 at 5 p.m.
