THE GAME:
The Kennesaw State women's basketball team heads on the road for the first time in Atlantic Sun Conference play as the Owls travel to Nashville, Tenn., for a 7 p.m. ET contest on Thursday, Jan. 9 against Lipscomb in Allen Arena.

THE OPPONENT:
Lipscomb
The Bisons opened Atlantic Sun Conference action on the road last weekend, falling to 0-2 in league play with losses to East Tennessee State (78-75) on Thursday and USC Upstate (92-69) on Saturday. Lipscomb, who sits at 3-10 on the season, is amidst a three-game losing streak and is 0-3 at home. LU has four players averaging double digits, led by Danay Fothergill with 17.4 points per game. Ashley Southern adds 15.9 points and 11.7 rebounds per contest.
 
THE SERIES:
This will be the 11th meeting between the Owls and the Bisons since KSU has moved to Division I, with KSU holding a 7-4 advantage over Lipscomb.
 
In the team's last meeting the Owls dropped a 55-53 heartbreaker on Feb. 23 at the KSU Convocation Center. Then-senior Sametria Gideon recorded her 12th double-double of the season with 12 points and 10 rebounds to lead the Owls.
 
LAST TIME OUT:
Behind 21 points and a career-high seven three-pointers from freshman guard Deandrea Sawyers, the Kennesaw State women's basketball team notched its first A-Sun win of the season with a 59-51 victory over North Florida on Saturday afternoon (Jan. 4) at the KSU Convocation Center.
 
NEXT UP:
The Owls continue their two-game road swing, traveling to Highland Heights, Ky., for a 7 p.m. ET game on Saturday, Jan. 11 against Northern Kentucky at The Bank of Kentucky Center.
 
NEWS AND NOTES:
Team Three-Pointers 
With 11 three-pointers against North Florida on Saturday, the Owls tied the second-most three-pointers made in a game in program history. KSU set the record a season ago with 12 treys against Davidson on Nov. 18, 2012.
 
Offensive Rebounds
The Owls continue to be a strong offensive rebounding team, ranking third in the Atlantic Sun Conference in offensive rebounding percentage (.354) and fifth in offensive rebounds with 174 total offensive rebounds for an average of 13.4 per game.
 
Limiting Opponents on the Glass
Defensively, KSU ranks second in rebounding defense and is holding teams to 38.0 rebounds per contest.
 
Sawyers Makes History
With her seven three-pointers against North Florida on Saturday, freshman guard Deandrea Sawyers tied the second-most three-pointers made for a KSU player in a game in program history. Former Owl Ashley Holliday owns the record with nine treys against Mercer on Jan. 26, 2011. It also ties the most threes an A-Sun player has made in a game this season. 
 
Double-Doubles
Junior guard Kristina Wells owns the second-most double-doubles in the A-Sun with six on the season. Her seven 10-rebound games are also the second-most in the conference. 
 
Wells the Leader
Wells continues to lead the Owls and ranks in the top four in the conference in steals (1.8 spg), rebounding (8.8 rpg) and minutes played (35.5 mpg). Her 13.5 points per game also rank eighth in the A-Sun.
 
20-Point Games
After scoring 21 points against the Ospreys, Sawyers now owns four 20-point games in her rookie campaign, which sits as third-most in the A-Sun. The Nashville, Tenn., native trails only Wells (176) with 158 points on the season and is averaging 17.7 points in the last three contests. 
 
Young Heating Up
Junior guard Bria Young has scored in double figures in the last four of five contests, including averaging 11 points in the last three games. She poured in a season-high 12 points against Georgia and Jacksonville.
