THE GAME:
The Kennesaw State women's basketball team continues its home stand with a 2 p.m. contest against 2013 Atlantic Sun Conference Tournament champion Stetson on Saturday, Jan. 18 at the KSU Convocation Center. The game will also be broadcast on the ESPN3 network.
 
The Owls are 4-12 on the season and sit in sixth place in A-Sun standings with a 2-3 record, while the Hatters are fourth in league standings at 3-1 and are 11-5 in 2013-14.

THE OPPONENT:
Stetson
After a conference-opening loss to Florida Gulf Coast, the Hatters have rebounded to win three-straight contests, including a 72-60 victory at Mercer on Thursday. Stetson, the 2013 Atlantic Sun Conference Tournament champion and A-Sun representative in the NCAA Tournament, owns a 11-5 overall record with all of its losses coming away from Deland. The Hatters have five players averaging double digit points, led by Sasha Sims with 17.9 per game, which ranks second in the conference. 
 
THE SERIES:
This will be the 18th all-time meeting between the Owls and the Hatters, with Stetson holding a 14-3 advantage over KSU, including a 74-46 victory in Deland, Fla., in the teams' last meeting on Feb. 28, 2013. Then-senior Sametria Gideon registered her 14th double-double of the season with 17 points and 12 rebounds to lead the Owls.
 
LAST TIME OUT:
The Kennesaw State women's basketball team put forth a valiant effort against reigning Atlantic Sun Conference regular season champion Florida Gulf Coast, but ultimately fell 69-55 to the Eagles on Thursday night (Jan. 16) at the KSU Convocation Center.
 
NEXT UP:
The Owls begin a three-game road swing, traveling to Johnson City, Tenn., for a 4 p.m. ET contest against East Tennessee State on Thursday, Jan. 23.
 
NEWS AND NOTES:
Owls Set Three-Point Record
With 12 three-pointers at Lipscomb on Thursday, the Owls tied the most three-pointers made in a game in program history. KSU first netted 12 treys a season ago against Davidson on Nov. 18, 2012.
 
KSU Behind the Arc
The Owls rank fifth in the conference and 129th in the country in three-point field goals per game with 5.8 threes per contest. KSU has converted 92 threes this season and is shooting 30 percent from behind the arc. 
 
Owls on the Glass
The Owls continue to be a strong rebounding team, ranking third in the A-Sun in rebounding defense and is holding teams to 37.9 rebounds per contest. Offensively, KSU sits fourth in offensive rebounding percentage (.338) and owns 205 total offensive rebounds for an average of 12.8 per game.  
 
Wells Registers First-Ever Triple-Double
After threatening for most of the season, junior guard Kristina Wells registered the first triple-double  in program history since KSU moved to Division I with 18 points, 11 rebounds and 11 assists at Lipscomb.
 
Hot-Shooting Sawyers
Freshman guard Deandrea Sawyers has been prolific from behind the arc and is averaging just over two three-pointers per game this season, which ranks fourth in the A-Sun and 80th in the nation. In the last four games, the Nashville, Tenn., is averaging 4.75 treys, including registering back-to-back games with seven made three-pointers against North Florida and Lipscomb. For the season, she has connected on 38 threes and is shooting 34.5 percent from three-point range.
 
Double-Doubles
Wells owns the only triple double in the A-Sun this season and ranks second in the league and 31st in the country with eight double-doubles. Her nine 10-rebound games are the third-most in the conference. 
 
Wells Doing it All
Wells continues to lead the Owls and ranks in the top eight in the conference in minutes played (third, 35.2 mpg), rebounding (fourth, 8.9 rpg), assists (sixth, 2.9 apg), steals (sixth, 1.6 spg) and scoring (eighth, 13.6 ppg).  
 
200-Point Mark
With 13 points against FGCU, Sawyers surpassed 200 this season with 212 points. Wells leads the Owls with 217.
 
Young Heating Up
Junior guard Bria Young had her five-game double-digit scoring streak snapped against the Eagles, but she still poured in seven points for the Owls and is averaging 10 points in the last four contests.
 
Sawyers Leading Owls in A-Sun
Sawyers leads the Owls in A-Sun action with 17 points per game, which sits fourth in the league. Her scoring average is the second highest for all freshmen in the conference.
