MBB: Owls Move to Music City for Thursday Night Clash

KSU to Face Lipscomb in Atlantic Sun Conference Competition

THE GAME:
The Kennesaw State men's basketball team hits the road for two straight, starting off this Thursday, Jan. 16 as the Owls take on the Bison of Lipscomb in Atlantic Sun Conference action.
 
The 7 p.m. ET contest will be broadcast live on ESPN3 as KSU (4-14, 1-4 A-Sun) looks to beat the Bison (6-11, 1-5) in Nashville, Tenn.

THE OPPONENT:
Lipscomb
The Bison of Lipscomb come into the game as the conference's leading three-point shooting team with 149 triples. Martin Smith leads LU with his 286 points to go with his 43 three-pointers in 533 minutes played for first-year head coach Casey Alexander.

LAST OUTING
It was tough pegging for the Kennesaw State men's basketball team in Hawkins Arena on Friday night as the Owls took an 83-46  loss at in-state and Atlantic Sun Conference rival Mercer University.

NEXT UP:
The Owls remain on the road following the game in Nashville, Tenn., traveling north to take on Northern Kentucky on Saturday, Jan. 18 at 7 p.m. ET.

NEWS AND NOTES:
Three-Point Attempts
KSU ranks fourth in the A-Sun and 58th in the nation in total three-pointers attempted with 350 and is ranked 101st in makes with 113. The Owls continue to boast a top three three-point defense in the Atlantic Sun Conference, holding opponents to just a 33 percent success rate from beyond the arc.

From the Stripe
During the Owls' outing against the Spartans, KSU made a season-high 21 free throws, going a stellar 21-of-25 from the charity stripe. Three Owls are now shooting over 80 percent from the free-throw line in Myles Hamilton (.857), Nigel Pruitt (.821) and Tanner Wozniak (.800).
 
Love's Game
Junior Delbert Love leads KSU in both assists with 50 and in three-pointers with 33. Love is honing in on his 1,000th career point, sitting at 938, and is third all-time in the KSU record book.
 
Kouassi on the Block
With 15 blocks, Willy Kouassi leads the Owls in that category and has four games with multiple blocks after picking up a pair at Mercer in the team's last outing.
 
Field Goal Percentage
KSU holds a 3-0 record when shooting at a higher field goal percentage than their opponent and a 0-14 mark when getting outshot from the field.
 
Coleman Top Scorer
Forward Orlando Coleman leads the Owls in scoring and rebounding with 10.9 points and 6.8 boards per game. While leading the team in scoring, Coleman is also in the top five in the conference in field goal percentage with his .566 average.
