Kennesaw, Ga. – The Kennesaw State soccer team capped a five-game home stand with a 2-0 win over Northern Kentucky that provided head coach Rob King and the Owls program with their 150th win on Sunday, Sept. 29 at Fifth Third Bank Stadium.

Kennesaw State (5-5-0, 2-0-0) came out and controlled the possession for most of the first half and had several good scoring opportunities that were saved by Norse goalkeeper Tanner Ruberg. The Owls finally broke through when freshman midfielder Suzanne Arafa played a through ball to Katrina Frost, a preseason All-Atlantic Sun team member, who finished off the breakaway with a goal in the 36th minute.

KSU came out in the second half and continued to dominate the possession and it paid off in the 68th minute when Frost scored again. After a goal kick that was headed back towards the goal by junior midfielder Nicole Calder, Frost ran onto it and chipped the ball over Ruberg into the back of the net to give the Owls a 2-0 lead.

The defense and freshman goalkeeper Olivia Sturdivant continued their strong play posting their fourth shutout of the season and not allowing a shot on goal against NKU (4-6-1, 0-2-0).

KSU outshot the Norse 17-3, with nine of those being on frame for the Owls.

Kennesaw State had six corner kicks in the match to Northern Kentucky's three and both teams combined for 23 fouls.

With the win, the Owls moved to 2-0 in Atlantic Sun Conference play for the first time since 2010.

Kennesaw State will hit the road next weekend when it continues A-Sun Conference play at USC Upstate on Friday, Oct. 4 beginning at 7 p.m. (ET). A CoveritLive Blog will be conducted during the match by Assistant Director of Athletics Communications Libby Knight via KSUOwls.com starting 15 minutes prior to the contest.
