KENNESAW, Ga. – The long-awaited unveiling of the first official Kennesaw State football helmet will take place at halftime of Friday's soccer game against Ole Miss at Fifth Third Bank Stadium. Game time is 7 p.m.
Taking part in the unveiling will be Director of Athletics
Vaughn Williams and head football coach
Brian Bohannon. Following the ceremony, Bohannon will sign autographs on the concourse level.
The Kennesaw State marketing department will have a tent set up on the concourse level where fans can enter a drawing to win a replica helmet signed by Bohannon.
The Department of Athletics began working with Adidas, Kennesaw State's official apparel provider of Owl athletics, in May and narrowed the design concept to three different looks. The next step was to allow students, faculty, staff, fans and the Kennesaw State community the opportunity to provide input into the look the Owls will have when they kick off their inaugural season in 2015.
The fan survey began on August 19 and concluded on August 30, and nearly 10,000 responses were received.
The three versions of the helmet are a black helmet with the primary logo and a gold stripe and black facemask; gold helmet with the "KS" logo, custom black stripe and black facemask; and black helmet with "KS" logo, no stripe and gold facemask.
Following the unveiling of the helmet, the Kennesaw State bookstore will be selling football-related merchandise displaying the new helmet on the concourse level. The merchandise also will be available at the campus bookstore.
