SOC: Owls Fall to Wofford 3-0 in Exhibition Opener

Kennesaw, Ga. – 
The Kennesaw State soccer team dropped a 3-0 decision to Wofford in its first exhibition game of the preseason on Friday, August 9 at Fifth Third Bank Stadium.
 
After opening preseason camp on Wednesday, August 7, both teams used the opening minutes of the first half to get use to playing at match speed after the quick turnaround.
 
Wofford opened the scoring in the 19th minute as Alex Kachulis posted a header goal on a corner kick from Katherine Whisenhunt to take a 1-0 lead.
 
KSU notched its best scoring opportunity late in the first coming from a cross from redshirt-freshman defender Brittney Reed to sophomore forward Danielle Gray, who's shot was stopped on a diving save from Terrier goalkeeper Kimberly Cohn.
 
Wofford pushed its lead to 2-0 less than 15 minutes into the second half when Chloe Brackett stole the ball from the KSU goalkeeper and passed it into the back of the net in the 59th minute.
 
The Terriers finished off their scoring in the 71th minute as Annika Jansson curled in a free kick from the left flank.
 
The Owls outshot Wofford 12 to six, with five shots on goal. Reed led KSU with three shots, including one on goal. Wofford earned four corners in the match, while KSU earned two.
 
Brackett tallied two shots, with one on goal for the Terriers.
 
Kennesaw State next faces Clayton State in its second and final exhibition game of the preseason next SaturdayAugust 17th at Fifth Third Bank Stadium at 7 p.m. (ET).
