KENNESAW, Ga. – Freshman
Suzanne Arafa tallied a pair of goals to lead the Kennesaw State soccer team past Clayton State in its final exhibition match of the 2013 season at Fifth Third Bank Stadium on Friday, August 17.
After starting off the match with mostly midfield play, the Owls opened the scoring in the 30th minute as junior

Maggie Gaughan on the left flank to take a 1-0 lead.
Minutes before the halftime buzzer, Arafa notched her first goal of the night to put KSU up 2-0. The Acworth, Ga., native received a cross from junior
Iyani Hughes from the right end line and passed the ball into the back of the goal.
With just two minutes remaining in the match Arafa gave the Owls a 3-0 lead after getting behind the CSU defense on a long pass from junior
Alma Gardarsdottir. Arafa then carried the ball towards Laker goalkeeper Charlotte McCormack before placing the ball into the left side of the goal.
The Owls outshot the Lakers 19 to six, with Arafa leading KSU with five shots, including four on goal. Kennesaw State earned two corners in the match, while CSU had three.
Freshman Oliva Sturdivant notched one save in her debut, while McCormack totaled six saves in the loss.
Kennesaw State will officially open the 2013 campaign on Friday, August 23 as the Owls travel to Knoxville, Tenn., for a neutral-site match against Tennessee Tech at 5 p.m. (ET).
