CHARLESTON, S.C. – The Kennesaw State men’s tennis team fell to Campbell, 7-0, on Wednesday, March 6 in a neutral site match at the Earle Tennis Center on the campus of The Citadel.
"We came out very flat today in doubles, which has been our strength this year, so I was disappointed that we did not put up more of a fight in doubles,” said Head Coach T.J. Greggs. “Singles, overall, was much better, but we had so many chances on courts one, four, and five today. It is frustrating to come away with a 7-0 loss when it very easily could have been 4-3. We need to compete better across the board, but we have a few days to work on some things before our next match and we will continue to try to get healthy for conference season."
KSU falls to 2-6 on the season, while the Camels move to 6-4.
Freshman
Tobi Menhofer and sophomore Alexander Pena each won their first set in singles play, but would drop the decision in three sets.
Menhofer fell 4-6, 6-3, 7-6 (7-4) to No. 75 Fernando Guillen at No. 1 singles, while Pena suffered a 4-6, 6-3, 1-0 (10-6) defeat to Josep Baro on court five.
Kennesaw State is back in action on Sunday, March 10 as the Owls host East Carolina at the Fair Oaks Tennis Center in Marietta, Ga. The match is slated to start at noon (ET).
