THE GAME:
The Kennesaw State baseball team looks to string together wins this week as the black and gold welcome in Savannah State for a 5 p.m. ET Tuesday evening contest at Stillwell Stadium.
The Owls now sit at .500 on the year at 10-10 after taking a 5-4 win over Mercer in Atlantic Sun Conference action this past Sunday. Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference opponent Savannah State comes in at 13-7 on the season, but the black and gold do hold the all-time edge over the Tigers at 3-0.
Tuesday’s game will also feature $1 hotdogs and drinks for fans in attendance.

THE OPPONENT
The Tigers are now hitting .271 as a team and currently have six players batting over .300 on the season after a 1-2 weekend against conference opponent North Carolina Central.
Parker Nix leads the team with a .333 mark from the plate with 21 hits in 63 at bats, seven of which went for extra bases.
Savannah State has taken 45 bases in 56 attempts, making the Tigers one of the top teams in the nation on the base paths.

Kennesaw State leads in the all-time series, 3-0, winning all three meetings in Kennesaw, Ga.
The last clash between the two schools came on April 25 of last season with a 9-4 win for the black and gold.

A perfect day at the plate for freshman
Kal Simmons helped power the Kennesaw State baseball team past in-state rival Mercer, 5-4, in a Sunday afternoon Atlantic Sun Conference Matchup.
Simmons (Nashville, Ga./Berrien HS) went 4-for-4 from the batter’s box after being bumped up to the second spot in the lineup, putting up three singles and a double to go along with his game-high two RBI and a run scored in what was a 13-hit day for the Owls (10-10, 1-2 A-Sun) as a team.
Starting pitcher
Kevin Kyle (Atlanta, Ga./Georgia Perimeter College) earned the win after going 6.2 innings allowing just one earned run on six hits and striking out four before closer
James Connell (Roswell, Ga./Georgia Perimeter College) earned his fifth save of the season with a pair of strikeouts in the ninth.
NEXT UP
For the first time in school history the Owls will face off against the Norse of Northern Kentucky University, the A-Sun’s newest member. The three-game series starts off on Friday, March 22 at 6 p.m. ET.

Leading the Way
Senior Bo Way is in the midst of a 15-game hit streak after having hit safely in all but one game so far this year for the black and gold. Way now leads the squad in batting average (.363), slugging percentage (.500) and on base percentage (.402).
Simmons in the Clutch
Freshman Kal Simmons is one of the hottest hitters in the lineup for head coach
Mike Sansing. The freshman is now hitting .304 with a team-high 17 RBI and has made his way into the top of the batting order, going 4-for-4 in his first game in the two-spot in the lineup.
The Bullpen
The bullpen for the Owls is one of the best on average in the league, holding a team ERA of 3.37 and an opposing batting average of just .234, the second best in the Atlantic Sun Conference.

First baseman
Anthony Duran (Miami, Fla./Southwest Miami HS) has been perfect through 2013 so far, holding a fielding percentage of 1.000.
