MARIETTA, Ga. – Sophomore Louis Theodor and freshman Tobi Menhofer teamed to post an 8-5 victory at No. 1 doubles, but the Kennesaw State men’s tennis team (0-1) dropped its 2013 season opener, 7-0, to Nicholls State on Saturday at the Fair Oaks Tennis Center.
 
Despite the 8-5 win from Theodor and Menhofer over Damian Despotovski and Sidharth Sivakumar, the Owls gave Nicholls State an early 1-0 advantage with losses on courts two and three.
 
In singles action, sophomore Alexander Pena (Johns Creek, Ga. / Lambert High School) took his match at No. 4 singles to a third and decisive set before falling 6-2, 5-7, 1-0 (10-8), while the other five Owls posted set-straight setbacks.
 
Kennesaw State looks to notch its first win of the season on Saturday, Feb. 16, when they head to Montgomery, Ala., for a pair of matches against Alabama A&M and Alabama State. Match times are set for 9 a.m. ET and 2 p.m., respectively.
