THE GAME:
The Kennesaw State women’s basketball team will look to clinch a spot in the Atlantic Sun Conference Tournament this weekend as the Owls host Lipscomb on Saturday, Feb. 23 for a noon-time game in the KSU Convocation Center.
The 7-19 Owls, 3-11 in the A-Sun, will look to complete the season series sweep over the struggling 2-23, 1-13 in the A-Sun, Bison, with a win sealing a spot for the black and gold in General Shale Postseason Tournament.
Tickets for the game are still $6 for adults, $4 for kids under the age of 12 with Kennesaw State students, faculty and staff as well as military members free with a valid ID.

THE OPPONENT
Lipscomb is currently on an 11-game losing skid, the longest such streak in the A-Sun, not having won since Jan. 7 when the Bison beat USC Upstate on the road.
USC Upstate’s Victoria McGowan posted a triple-double on Lipscomb last weekend with 19 points, 12 rebounds and 10 assists against a defense that is allowing over 70 points per game.
LU has been shooting well from beyond the arc this season, putting in 165 triples, or 6.6 per game, with senior Hannah Phillips leading the way with 13.1 points per game and 315 total points.
THE SERIES
KSU leads the all-time series over Lipscomb, 8-4, winning the first meeting earlier this season on the road, 55-39, on Jan. 28 in Nashville, Tenn.
With a 16-rebound effort during the win, KSU senior
Sametria Gideon (Madison, Ala./Bob Jones HS) eclipsed the 1,000 rebound mark for her career, becoming the first Owl with 1,000 points and 1,000 rebounds and the ninth player in the league history to do so.
The Owls shattered their previous high in team rebounds with 56 with six players pulling down six or more including Gideon’s season-high 16 and a career-high nine from
Nicole Adams (New Port Richey, Fla./Gulf HS).
16 offensive rebounds for KSU helped bring the Owls 16 second chance points.
KSU also put four players in double-figures scoring led by #Chelsea Mason’s# (Bellevue, Neb./Bellevue West HS) game-high 17. Adams finished up with a career-best of 15, the second straight game she has broken her career high in scoring, while Gideon made it back-to-back double-doubles and 11 total on the year with her 13 points.
Ashley Holliday (Greenville, S.C./J.L. Mann Academy) was the fourth in double-figures with 10.
Gideon also tied a career-high with five blocks as Holliday dished out six assists.
LAST OUTING
Even with a 23-point outing from Adams, the Kennesaw State women’s basketball team couldn’t overcome costly turnovers as the Owls fell in Atlantic Sun Conference action, 69-65, at East Tennessee State on Monday night.
Adams shattered her previous career high of 15 points with an 8-of-10 night shooting from the field and a 6-for-7 performance from beyond the three-point line, the third most three-pointers in a single game in the school record books.
Gideon earned her 12
th double-double of the season during the contest with 10 points and 13 rebounds, 12 of which came in the second half alone. Holliday was the third Owl in double-figures scoring with her 16 points and six assists.
For the game, the Owls shot 45 percent from the field, 21-of-47, with seven three-pointers on 13 attempts.
THE NUMBERS
Gideon is one of just a handful of players in the nation to average a double-double with 11.5 points and 10.3 rebounds per game after picking up her 12
th double-double of the season with 10 points and 13 rebounds at ETSU
The three-point defense of KSU is one of the best in the A-Sun and one of the top 30 in the nation, holding opponents to just a 26.7 percent success rate from beyond the arc.
The Owls are committing just 11 fouls per game, putting KSU at No. 4 in the nation in fewest personal fouls per contest.

The Owls will play one more at home in the 2012-13 campaign, hosting Northern Kentucky on Monday, Feb. 25 at 7 p.m. for Senior Night.

Gideon’s Double-Doubles
Senior Sametria Gideon is the only player in the A-Sun to be averaging a double-double on the season with 11.5 points per game and 10.3 rebounds per game. Gideon continues to lead the A-Sun in rebounding with her 10.3 boards per outing average.
Gideon in Rare Company
Gideon is one of just four active players in the country to be a school’s career points and rebounds leader. The only 1,000 point and 1,000 rebound player in school history, Gideon now has 1,22 points and 1,059 rebounds to her name.
Four Owls Averaging Double-Digits
Four Owls are now averaging double-figures scoring including Gideon (11),
Kristina Wells (Douglasville, Ga./Douglas County HS) (11), Holliday (10) and four-time A-Sun Newcomer of the Week Mason (11).
Adams’ Career Night
Adams is coming off of her best outing to date, putting in a career-high 23 points on six three-pointers and an 8-for-10 day shooting from the field against the Bucs. Adams now has 100 points for the season and is shooting at a .419 clip from three-point land.
Milestones to look out for
Holliday-933 points, 198 three-pointers. Gideon-39 rebounds away from the KSU single season record of 311, holding 272, and 10 blocks away from the single season record of 47.
