BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Senior
Gokalp Ozdemir tallied his third singles win of the season, but the Kennesaw State men’s tennis team (2-3) fell to UAB, 6-1, at the George Ward Tennis Center on Sunday.
“We did a great job of fighting today on all of the court, even if our execution in some matches was not there,” said Head Coach T.J. Greggs. “We played solid doubles, and I think if we would have had more belief in ourselves we would have had some better results in singles. The effort was still excellent. Gokalp had an excellent weekend and picked up a solid win for us.”
After dropping the doubles point, Ozdemir put the Owls on the board with a 6-1, 6-4 decision against Lucas Dirube at No. 4 singles. Sophomore Alexander Pena pushed his match against Luiz Felipe Pinto on court five to a third set, before falling 6-4, 2-6, 1-0 (5).
The Owls are back in action on Saturday, Feb. 23 against Presbyterian at the Fair Oaks Tennis Center in Marietta, Ga. The match is slated to start at 2 p.m. (ET).
