ATHENS, Ga. – The Kennesaw State women's basketball team fell to No. 16 Georgia, 91-32, at the Stegeman Coliseum on Sunday afternoon (Dec. 15).

"It is all a growing process," said head coach Nitra Perry. "In the second half we broke it down to four-minute increments, we won the first four minutes. They are buying in more and more, so that was something positive to take away today. That was a really good Georgia team. To beat a team like that you have to play really good basketball and it was a great learning experience for our kids."

Junior guards Kristina Wells and Bria Young led the Owls (1-8), scoring 24 of KSU's 32 points with each posting 12 points in the contest. Wells added 11 rebounds for her fourth double-double of the season, while Young's 12 points set a season-high for the Suwanee, Ga., native in 2013-14.

The Bulldogs (10-0) opened the game on a 7-0 run in the first six minutes of action before redshirt-senior forward Lisa Capellan put in a layup at the 13:58 mark of the first half for the Owls' first field goal of the game.

UGA continued its strong play throughout the half, capitalizing on KSU's 16 first-half turnovers en route to a 45-11 lead at intermission.

The Owls began the second half with its own 9-4 run on the strength of five points from freshman forward Aareon Smith. The Bulldogs then responded with 25-0 run, holding KSU scoreless for over seven minutes and went on for the 91-32 victory.

For the game the Owls committed 26 turnovers, resulting in 36 points for the Bulldogs.

Capellan added six rebounds in her second contest back from injury.

UGA registered five players in double figures, led by 18 points from Merritt Hempe.

Kennesaw State next returns home for its final contest before the Christmas holiday break on Saturday, Dec. 21 as the Owls battle Columbia at 2 p.m. ET at the KSU Convocation Center.
