MBB: Owls Start Season With Four Games in Four Days

KSU To Host First Ever Regular Season Tournament

THE GAMES:
The Kennesaw State men's basketball team makes its long-awaited season opener this weekend, hosting the program's first ever regular season tournament in which the Owls will play four games in four days to start off the 2013-14 campaign.
 
KSU welcomes in Youngstown State, Eastern Kentucky, Florida International and Warren Wilson College into the Convocation Center with games ranging from Friday, Nov. 8 through Tuesday Nov. 12.
 
The Owls will start off their run on Friday at 7:30 p.m. ET against the Penguins, those in attendance will receive free schedule cards and posters while the men's track and field team receives their Atlantic Sun Conference outdoor championship rings.
 
On Saturday, KSU will play host to Eastern Kentucky at 5:30 p.m. ET with the first 300 fans taking home glow in the dark Tanner Wozniak t-shirts. Sunday's 3:30 p.m. ET ESPN3 featured game against FIU will double as Sundae Funday with the first 100 kids 12 and under having the chance to make their own sundaes.
 
In a special 11 a.m. ET game on Monday, the Owls will celebrate Education Day in the Convocation Center with students from local middle and elementary schools in attendance. Admission to the game against Warren Wilson will be free to all with free KSU lunch boxes being given away courtesy of Shane Co.

LIVE VIDEO: ESPN3 will have a live broadcast of Sunday's game against FIU. Nathan McCreary and Scott Webb will have the call.
LIVE AUDIO: Nathan McCreary will be on play-by-play for Friday and Saturday's games.

YOUNGSTOWN STATE
The Penguins are gearing up for a run at one of the toughest conferences in the nation in the Horizon League after an 18-6 year last season.

EKU looks to make a push for the NCAA Tournament after ending last year with a 25-10 overall record.

FLORIDA INTERNATIONAL       
Tyrnell Murphy returns for his senior season after putting up nearly 15 point per game during his junior campaign.

WARREN WILSON COLLEGE
The Owls bring a 2-1 record into the KSU Convocation Center as a member of the USCAA Division II.

NEXT UP:
The Owls hit the road for the first time in 2013-14 on Nov. 14, as the team takes on SEC opponent Mississippi State in Starkville, Miss. at 8 p.m. ET.

NEWS AND NOTES:
First Ever Home Tourney
The Owls open up the 2013 season by hosting their first ever tournament in the KSU Convocation Center, welcoming in Youngstown State, Eastern Kentucky, Florida International and Warren Wilson. KSU will face three teams for the first time in Youngstown State, FIU and Warren Wilson College.

Exhibition Season
The Owls went 2-0 during their short exhibition season, taking down Covenant College 95-66, and Piedmont College 85-78.

2013-14 Captains
The Owls officially named their captains for the 2013-14 season in Delbert Love, Myles Hamilton and Drew McGhee.

Coleman Stepping Up
Newcomer Orlando Coleman had an impressive exhibition season, scoring 15 points against Covenant College before dropping 12 on Piedmont with six assists and five rebounds.
 
Hamilton Against EKU
In the last meeting against Eastern Kentucky, Myles Hamilton went off for double-digits, scoring 12 points with eight rebounds and five assists.
 
Wozniak's Familiar Foe
Tanner Wozniak, the junior transfer for KSU, will be facing a familiar opponent over the weekend when the Owls take on FIU where the St. Petersburg, Fla. native started his college basketball career.
