KENNESAW, Ga. – The Kennesaw State soccer team dropped a hard-fought Atlantic Sun Conference battle against East Tennessee State, 2-0, to snap its four-match win streak on a hot and humid Sunday afternoon (Oct. 6) at Summers-Taylor Stadium in Johnson City, Tenn.

"I thought it was a pretty even game," said head coach Rob King. "We did not play well enough in the second half of the game. We had opportunities in the first half to go a goal or two up and we did not take them which kept them in the game. Their keeper made a big save in the first half. Second half we were a little slow to the ball, defended poorly a couple of times and they got the goals that counted."

After an intense first 45 minutes of play, ETSU (6-5-1, 2-1-0) took a 1-0 just two minutes into the second half as Jenny Poltl played a through ball to Molly Collinson, who placed the ball past freshman goalkeeper Olivia Sturdivant into the bottom right corner.

The Buccaneers added a second goal in the 76th minute as Sarah Zadrazil lofted a ball to a wide open Kristi Davis the left side of the goal. Sturdivant came off her line to defend, but Davis finished over the Sanford, N.C., native for the 2-0 lead.

KSU (6-6-0, 3-1-0) pushed for the comeback in the final minutes of the match, but the ETSU defense held strong for the win.

The Owls posted a season-high 16 shots in the match with six coming on frame, while the Bucs tallied 15 shots with nine on goal. Redshirt-junior forward Katrina Frost and junior midfielder Nicole Calder led KSU with four shots a piece, both with two shots on goal.

KSU earned two corners, while ETSU earned four. Both teams combined for 15 fouls in the contest.

Sturdivant tied a career and season-high with seven saves in the match, while Jasmine Elliott totaled six saves for ETSU.

Kennesaw State next finish up its three-match road trip to open conference play with a showdown against rival Mercer on Friday, Oct. 11 in Macon, Ga. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. (ET).
