CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Kennesaw State volleyball team had a five game win streak snapped early Saturday morning as the Tigers of Towson University took a 3-0 (19-25, 27-25, 14-25) win over the Owls in the opening match of day two at the Charlotte 49er Invitational.

The Owls will have one more chance to pick up win number 10 this weekend as 9-3 KSU takes on UNC-Asheville to close out the weekend at 4:30 p.m.

The Owls fought back late in the opening set, scoring three straight points to get back within five of the Tigers, but a TU kill would end things in favor of Towson, 25-19.

Set two was more of the same with Towson pulling away early on to a 10-7 lead. KSU got back within one at 14-13 on a Tiger attack error, but the TU offense proved strong, scoring four straight to end the set 25-17.

Another TU block then sealed the deal for the Tigers in set three, moving the Tigers to 11-3 on the year with the 25-14 set three win.

The Owls gave up a .368 attack percentage, tied for the highest KSU has given up all season, while hitting just .095 themselves.

Senior Turea Jones(Santa Rosa, Calif./Santa Rosa JC) led with eight kills while Sara Metroka (New Castle, Ind./New Castle Chrysler High School) aided with 17 assists. Camille Pedraza (Marietta, Ga./Kell High School) was the only Owl with double-digit digs with 13.
