KENNESAW, Ga. –
After a record crowd came out to see the Kennesaw State Soccer season opener last Friday, the Owls are looking forward to playing in front of another record-setting crowd when they host cross-town rival Georgia State on Friday, Aug. 24 at KSU Stadium.  Kickoff is slated for 7 p.m.

Live stats and video streaming will be available via ksuowls.com. The contest will be streamed through ASun.TV and is a free service for fans effective this fall.

Fans are encouraged to wear their Black and Gold on Friday in support of the Owls. The first 150 fans will receive a free t-shirt, while all that attend will get a buy-one, get-one free voucher for a future game. Friday night will also be Community Night, with all kids in eighth grade and under receiving free admission while their parents earn $3 discounted tickets.  It will also be Camper Reunion Night and Girl Scout Night, along with inflatable games open to all fans on the stage from 6-7 p.m., as well as half time.

As a special treat for Owls fans, there will be a post-match fireworks show following the conclusion of the match.

An enthusiastic crowd of 1,821 fans came out to show their support and witnessed KSU (1-1-0) lose a tough 1-0 decision to Southeastern Conference opponent Alabama on Friday as the Crimson Tide scored in the 56th minute to claim the victory.  The Owls rebounded on Sunday, cruising past Alabama A&M 9-0.  Freshman Danielle Gray (Peachtree City, Ga./McIntosh HS) tallied eight points in the contest, coming on three goals and a pair of assists.  For her efforts, the freshman was named Atlantic Sun Conference Player of the Week on Monday.

Kennesaw State holds a 2-0-0 series advantage against Georgia State (0-2-0).  It has been seven years since the Owls and GSU have battled, with the Black and Gold coming away with a 3-0 home win on Aug. 25, 2006.  Georgia State and first-year Head Coach Derek Leader opened the 2012 season with a pair of losses last weekend, first falling to SEC-foe Auburn 1-0 on Friday, before being tripped up 2-1 against Jacksonville State on Sunday. The Panthers were picked to finish 10th in the Colonial Athletic Association, as voted upon by the conference coaches.

KSU next faces off against its second and third SEC opponents in as many weeks.  The Owls first battle Tennessee at KSU Stadium on Friday, Aug. 31 at 7 p.m., followed by its first road trip of the season to Arkansas on Sunday, Sept. 2 at 8 p.m.

Season tickets for soccer are available for just $24 for all eight regular-season home contests, with general admission seating in the stadium.  Tickets can be purchased online at ksuowls.com, by clicking the “Purchase Tickets” link in the middle of the website, or by calling the athletics ticket office at (770) 423-6957.  Following Friday’s contest, season tickets will drop to $21 for the remaining nine matches.
