KENNESAW, Ga. - A press conference has been scheduled for Wednesday, May 30 at 11 a.m. in the KSU Convocation Center to officially introduce Kristina Llanes as the inaugural head coach of the Kennesaw State women's lacrosse program. She comes to Kennesaw with seven years of coaching experience from several schools around the country.
The announcement will be made official by Kennesaw State Director of Athletics Vaughn Williams in the hospitality suite in the KSU Convocation Center on Wednesday morning. The move also marks the first major step forward since the women’s lacrosse program was announced in November of 2011.
Llanes last coached in the collegiate ranks in the spring of 2011 as the head coach at Presbyterian College. In her three years at the helm, the Blue Hose were 12-37, including the best season in school history in 2011 with a mark of 5-13. Prior to Presbyterian, Llanes was the head coach at SUNY Maritime for three seasons. She began her collegiate coaching career in 2005 as an assistant at Averett University in Virginia.
Llanes comes to a Kennesaw State women’s lacrosse program that is scheduled to begin play in the spring of 2013. The home of KSU women’s lacrosse will be the beautiful 8,300 seat KSU Stadium which was dubbed by the NCAA as a “Facility to Check Out” last fall and which hosted the 2011 NCAA Women’s Soccer College Cup.
