KENNESAW, Ga. – The Kennesaw State baseball team will return to Atlantic Sun conference play with a three game series versus the North Florida Ospreys at Stillwell Stadium.
The Owls (15-11, 4-2) are currently tied for second in the A-Sun standings with Belmont after a series win over Mercer and Jacksonville. Being carried by solid pitching and the offensive production by
Andy Chriscaden and
Aaron Dobbs, KSU is seeking national attention.
Currently ranked No. 14 in the nation in homeruns with eight, Chriscaden is batting .522 with six homeruns and 17 RBI in the last six games. His senior counterpart Dobbs is batting .429, with 12 hits, seven runs scored, and four stolen bases in as many games.
The starting pitching for the squad has been equally impressive, as the Black and Gold have won 10 of their last 14 games. Senior
Josh Carr, who has not lost since opening day, will be on the mound for Friday night. Pitching a complete game with a career high eight strikeouts in his last contest, Carr is currently leading the conference in wins. Steve Janas will be set to throw on Saturday. Janas is 2-0 in his last two starts, having struck out 15 batters and only allowed four earned runs.
North Florida (17-10, 2-4) owns the all-time record with a 26-31 advantage that dates back to 1988 and the days when the two were affiliated with the Peach Belt Conference. The last time the two schools met in 2011; KSU swept the Ospreys with a winning margin of 13 runs over the series.
Following Friday’s 6:00 p.m., start, the Owls will play on Saturday at 2:00 p.m. and Sunday at 1:00 p.m. On Friday, the KSU Department of Athletics is sponsoring Pennant Night. The first 200 fans in the gates will receive a Kennesaw State pennant. Saturday’s game will be Youth Baseball Night, as all youth league members will receive free admission.
Live audio of the weekend games can be heard on KSU All-Access, as Nathan McCreary and Brian Harper will be describing all the action. Also available with a paid subscription will be Atlantic Sun TV.
