KENNESAW, Ga. – With the 2012 regular season winding down, the Kennesaw State volleyball team will play its final two home matches of the year this Friday and Saturday, hosting North Florida and Jacksonville in an action packed weekend at the KSU Convocation Center.

The Owls, now 5-7 in the Atlantic Sun and 16-11 overall, sit in a tie for sixth place in the conference standings with six regular season games remaining on the docket.

Friday night’s 7 p.m. contest will slate the Owls against North Florida, also 5-7 in the A-Sun, for the team’s annual breast cancer awareness match. All fans who wear pink to the game will receive $3 admission.

First serve on Saturday against the 3-9 Dolphins of Jacksonville is set for 3 p.m. and will double as Senior Day for the black and gold. Baylee Strachan (Sioux City, Iowa/Winthrop), Turea Jones (Santa Rosa, Calif./Santa Rosa JC) and team manager Josh Reneau will be honored before the match.

Also on Saturday, fans can partake in a Halloween costume contest between the second and third sets with free candy being given away by Scrappy throughout the match. LGE will also be providing rally towels for the first 500 fans.

KSU defeated both North Florida and Jacksonville earlier in the season on the road and have not lost on a Senior Day since 2008.

Jones and Strachan continue to lead the offensive charge for the Owls, Jones leading in total kills with 289 and Strachan leading in attack percentage with a .338 success rate.

Jones, who is now just 11 kills shy of obtaining her 300th of the year, is one of two Owls to have played in all 93 sets so far this season, the other being setter Sara Metroka (New Castle, Ind./New Castle Chrysler HS), who is nearing the 1,000 assists mark for the season with 985.

Other milestones that can be reached this weekend include 400 digs for Camille Pedraza (Marietta, Ga./Kell HS), who currently sits at 391, and 65 blocks for freshman Cierra Royster (Mableton, Ga./Cumberland Christian HS) who is one shy of the mark at 64 total.

North Florida comes into the Convocation Center with one of the best defenses in the league, holding opponents to a .172 attack percentage. Individually, Paige Pridgeon and Carolyn Jenkins each rank in the top 10 in kills per set, holding 3.31 and 3.19 averages respectively.

Jacksonville, who brought the Owls to a fifth set back on Oct. 5, is trying to make a late season push into the conference tournament. The Dolphins are 1-4 in their last five games but are coming off of a 3-0 win over Stetson on Tuesday.

The Owls will end the regular season on the road, playing four straight away games against Lipscomb, Northern Kentucky, East Tennessee State and Mercer before the A-Sun Conference Tournament beginning on Nov. 15, in Nashville, Tenn.
